Hopefully, someone sees this question. I did not think it was a 911. My Gideon was 73 at AMPS. My husband tested him 15 minutes earlier than we normally do. He then gave 12% carb food to Gideon. Unfortunately, he let him eat the entire can. I just tested Gideon at +20 mins and he is 82. I think it is safe to give the insulin, but wanted to check with you all. I always said my cutoff was 100, but isn't the ideal situation is to shoot in the GREENS, but not low GREENS? I am going to retest again in 10 minutes. He will then just be 30 mins late for his Lantus.

Thank you...yes, I am home, except for 1 1/2 hours from 9A-10:30A, where we will be in church. I do think it is safe. Thank you. I will test him right before we leave also.

82 would be a food bump. Next time, stall but don't feed. You should monitor him closely. Get a +1 & +2.

ETA: You can shoot at the same time you normally do in the PM. A half hour adjustment (ahead/later) per day is fine.

OK. his +30 mins = 131. He did get his 2.25 units insulin 30 mins late. My husband panicked a bit. I was on my way home from work, but he did not want to alarm me. I had left Karo and 12% carb food out in case this happened. OK. Next time stall and retest to see what direction he is going in. I think this is the 5th day of the new dosage, and that is when he usually takes a nose dive. Thank you so much. Now that his BG = 131, perhaps I will retest at +2 right before we leave for 1 1/2 hrs.

This is good to know. I always thought Lantus was a very strict 12/12 like on the minute. I'll keep this in mind if I need to stall for 30 min for Diago. Thanks!

I’m glad you didn’t skip. Gideon is doing so much better on this dose. It didn’t matter how much he ate. Even a few teaspoons would cause a food bump.
