Today's AMPS totally surprised me...I usually only get a green PS after a low green the cycle before. But she seems to be surfing it beautifully!

I scrolled through Dr Lisa's fuds list yet again last night, since Trix is super-sick of the Wellness these days. Unfortunately, though, I think that's what we're stuck with. I know she absolutely hates EVO and Merrick's BG flavors, and she loves the Weruva's, but they send her BGs all over the map. There are lot of seafood options, but I don't want that being her main food source. That's really about it for fuds that are LC and low phos. Being vegan...I just don't think I can go down the raw road. I can open a can of cat food, but dealing with raw would be too much for me. Fortunately, she does CPC the Wellness within 20 or so minutes, it just takes her a few passes (and a few attempts at stealing kibbles!) now, rather than doing it right away. Maybe it's this batch....maybe we'll do better with the next case I buy. In the meantime, a seasoning her fuds with a few freeze dried salmon sprinkles does get her interest...

LOL...I know, after work late on Thursday for so many years, it's weird being off now. It's almost like a "guilty pleasure"....I totally love it!!

I'm bummed, too, that there aren't more low-carb+low-phos options. It's very limiting.
Trixie's eating routine sounds just like Ripley's: few passes, seeking kibble, freeze-dried treats enticements... :lol: :roll: :lol:
Which salmon treats do you use?

WOOT! love that amps. What a nice start for Trixie today. Surf well little one.

Good luck with the fuds. Always such a "hassle" to find new options. Mannie was primarily a wellness kitty, some ProPlan too. We did a few Merrick that he liked: surf n turf, CCookout. We did FF some too, but those were the ones that tended to spike his BG. Always such a guessing game. Funny, I always ended up back with the wellness.

Yay Trixie! Those are great numbers! I hope she keeps it up (or down I should say ;-) ).

That's interesting that you're vegan. My husband and I are trying out vegan-ism too. Well, I guess we can't say we're totally vegan because I still eat tuna once in a blue moon and we both eat honey, but other than that, we haven't been eating any dairy or other meats. We feel a lot better!

Amy, we buy PureBites from Petco (sometimes I order it online, along with Ripley's Wellness and civvie Smokey's FF, esp. if Petco is having a sale or free-shipping deal). We get shrimp, chicken, and turkey ~ the shrimp is definitely Ripley's fave BY FAR, but I try to add variety with the other 2 flavors. Purebites also makes a liver freeze-dried treat, too, but I haven't found who carries it yet.

What pretty green numbers for Trixie! I hope you solve the food issue. It's always something with these kitties isn't it?

While I don't have a diabetic kitty anymore, I still try to feed the right foods AND satisfy their appetites too. I discovered a while ago for BigMac and his sister that if I put down their food and after 15 minutes or so, pick it up if they didn't finish. After a couple of days of this, they became devoted members of the clean plate club. But when BigMac developed FD, I had to stop doing this. I had to have food available for him in case his BG went low.

Now with the two new kittens, Mackie and Trooper, they are driving me crazy with their food. They nibble a bit and leave it so I can't tell if they like the food or what. So I split a can (Fancy Feast) between them instead of a whole can each. Now they both clean the bowl and want more. I think they prefer a smaller amount of food in the bowl and get seconds rather than a whole bunch at once. Really it is the same thing that I learned when BigMac and Cappi were young. Silly cats. :? They eat more when I put out less. ??? Oh well, whatever works!

Now if only Trooper (8 weeks old) would stop tooting so much, whew! Such a stinky little guy at times! :shock:

I was just about to offer you some Evo, as I have about six cans. It's good Trixie does like the Wellness. Have a nice day and scritches to Trixie and the furbabies.

Trix has had a lovely surf today! Ah, the fuds....we're just gonna run with Wellness, in various forms of blending it together. She does eat it, and she especially likes it when we give her "ploppy treats" (doesn't that sound yummy!) after her +2 and +4 ear pokes. I wish she liked it more than she does, but we're stuck between a rock and a hard place, so we'll doctor it up as necessary with treat decorations...
 
Amy, if your local store can't order the purebite treats, I'd be more than happy to send you several bags to see if Trix likes them. Just let me know :-D :-D :-D

Amy, I get my PureBites online from Amazon and it is so much cheaper than the stores. I can get an 11.6 oz bag for 24.34. I have tried the Liver PureBites and my cats didn't like it much. Good luck with the fuds. It can make ya crazy :roll: :lol:

I too wish there were more options of low-carbs-low-phos food.
I am kind of stuck with Wellness too. :-|
Not only she gets tired of it, I always feel a little bit uncomfortable to solely depend on one company.
