Ok, I know it's technically not green yet... but what a beautiful cycle yesterday! I did throw in an extra meal. Originally intended to just give their last dinner an hour early to prevent him from sliding down too quickly. However, then an hour later, they were all demanding food - and Tink's numbers were still falling a bit faster than I wanted, so I figured it wouldn't hurt. Seemed to be just what we needed.

This morning looks even nicer - nice and flat at +2 - looks like he has finally figured out how to balance on that surfboard! :) Should be surfing green almost all day!!!

Interestingly, Tink has been asking for water at the faucet again periodically. He did this A LOT pre-diagnosis, stopped when he went OTJ, started again as we lost remission, but hadn't been doing it in awhile. It's not a regular thing yet... but he's asked at least 3 or 4 times in the past week - which seems weird since his numbers have been much better than we've seen in a long time.

Litterbox is starting to look better - still larger/lighter/softer stool, but nothing liquid. I have NOT been adding water to his food for the past week or so - well, basically since starting this dose. Partly because I worry that if I need him to eat later, he wont if he's full of water, but also partly (mostly) because he started refusing the food when it had water in it. Which I found weird as he had no problem with it for quite some time. That may explain why he asks for water occasionally - maybe he's just thirsty since there is less in his food than there was. He's never liked drinking from bowls or even the fountains I've bought for him.

Anyway... Loving these better numbers. Makes me think he may actually go OTJ again. Was losing hope there for awhile.

Way to go, Tink! Lookin' good!

I much prefer the faucet, too. Although sometimes at night you need to walk on your beans to make them wake up and turn it on for you. Inconvenient!

Right? :lol: It's a good thing I dont have those fancy "touch" faucets. My water bill would be insane. Tink loves to drink out of it - and Tarzan likes to PLAY with it. ohmygod_smile

Now that it's too late, because I already fed/shot... at 76, should I have waited and tested again without feeding? Or is it ok to just shoot. I believe the wait and test was for numbers in the 50s, but thought I'd better check.


EDITED: PMPS was 76, not 71.

The waiting and seeing what happens is if you get a low number you aren't comfortable shooting, or don't have enough data to figure out where he'll go next. Since Tink probably spent a good part of the day in green, it wasn't like he was dropping into PMPS. If I'd gotten a mid cycle number in the blues and then seen a PMPS of 71, I might wait to see if he was going up or down. Well, actually I personally wouldn't, but that's because I have a pretty good idea what Neko will do next and she's on Levemir so nadirs at PS a lot.

Ok cool. So, just did a +1 and it's at 69 now. At first I thought "eh, only 2pts, that could be the meter"... but then I realized that I wrote down 76 when I did his PS and then entered it incorrectly as 71 on the computer. SO, at +1, he's down 7pts... but I guess that's still pretty much the same thing?? Was thinking I'd see a food spike though. Will retest at +2.

:shock: WELL CRAP.

Time for that dose reduction.

Just gave a healthy tsp of 19% Avoderm chicken/gravy, which he LOVES. That SHOULD bring him right up... we'll see. No hypo symptoms at all, so I was really surprised to see it THAT low.

Yup, looks like he's insisting on that reduction this time. Test again in 20. Time to come up please Tink! :shock: :mrgreen:

Whew. Up to 55. Retest in 30 without feeding? Or should I let him eat some mc or lc knowing it'll probably come back down, being so early in the cycle??

It'd be nice to get him in the 60's before you stop feeding. Try a little LC or MC to see if you can get him surfing. Still a long way to go. nailbite_smile

Back down to 46, though I didn't feed the 2tsp of lc until about 10min before testing. Giving another tsp of 19%.
 
AND another tsp of 19%. Only came up to 49. One dose left in this can - might take two cans tonight. :?
 
Hi Jen. You are right that 10 minutes is likely not enough time to see a food spike. I wait about 30 for Max.
 
That was 10min before the 46. We're still only at 49. It's now 40min since he lc, but he's had more hc since.

Will retest at 9:10, 30min since 49 and another tsp of hc.
 
Now +4 and at 47. :? Hard to bring him up tonight. It's regular mealtime now, so I gave him the last tsp of 19% and a meal portion (1.5oz) of 11% Wellness instead of the usual 4%.

Hopefully this'll get him surfing.
 
Hurry up and SURF already!!! Just fed another 1.5oz mc (11%). Though it wasn't QUITE 30min since he FINISHED his meal, he was only up to 48 @ +4.5.

Going to bed at some point would be nice. @-) I'm about ready to give him ice cream! :roll:
 
OH, darn it. That was what I meant to do with the mc. Forgot the karo! Well, will be testing again in 15 and if I do have to feed again, I'll add some karo. He seems to kinda be surfing... just in the upper 40s. We need to surf a lil higher buddy!
 
Ok, a little past +5 (actually almost 5.5 from his shot - time to eat has test times skewed a bit) now and up to 52. Gave another 1.5oz of 11% - didn't feel like I need to add karo at this point. He should be coming up soon anyway as he usually seems to nadir between 4-6. He's still eagerly taking food, despite eating about 8oz tonight.
 
Up to 60 at 5.75. I'm going to sign off. Will continue testing until he's coming up without food.
 
Looks like Tink is in the mood to party tonight. Or he's holding out for that ice cream! :lol: C'mon, Tink! Pull it up a little, and then you can surf if you want. Mama would like to get some sleep tonight!
