This morning's AMPS was 420 but it could be a bounce if Lucky got into the blues overnight, since +4 was 206. I should have gotten up to check him but I was sooo tired.

When I checked him for ketones last night, his urine was a really bright and dark yellow. It smelled really concentrated too, not like ammonia, but strong like he was dehydrated but it was the first time he'd gone potty since that morning. Is this something I should be worried about, or is this normal? I've started adding water to his food because the water bowl stays full all the time. All the kitties drink very little.
 
Making the food soupy is always a good idea, but it would be nice if you could get a ketone test and be sure. Are you in the mood for more stalking?
 
I probably won't be able to get another test till tonight. We've got a pretty busy day today but while I am home I will stalk him as best as I can!!
 
The longer he goes without peeing, the darker it would be. If he avoided peeing due to the "LB Stalker" following him around the house, that might explain it.
Kitties are supposed to get most of their fluid intake from their food, so if they aren't hitting the water bowl that may not be a bad sign. You can mix some into his food if you rhink he is dehydrating.
If he continues to pee very little, and his ketones stay negative, then maybe have him checked for a uti?

Carl, yes that makes sense. Not peeing all day = more concentrated urine. I don't follow him around the house though, I just keep an eye on where he is and if he goes downstairs. But he is getting tired of me busting in on him at night when he finally goes LOL I'll just keep adding water and hope that it helps him go to the litter box more. I was more afraid of dark urine meaning he had a UTI or something but wouldn't he be going to the litter box a lot during the day if that were the case?

So, at +4 Lucky was at 230. I'm checking +6 here in about an hour. I hope we see a drop. I'd love to have a lower +6 today!
 
Okay, +6 was 199!! A blue!! (I know, I know, meter variance, but I'm celebrating anyway! lol) And +8 was 259. Haven't had a +8 that low in awhile :-D

Well, if you take into account meter variance, that 199 could have been a 160! So celebrating is fine! Nice numbers.

Yes, on the UTI, usually they go (or try to) more often, but only pee small amounts because it hurts to pee, or there are crystals partially blocking things.
