Yesterday’s post.

Man, the human meter is awesome. We are blue at pmps today! I’ve never felt so good about Frosty’s diabetes control :D.

What is considered the rental threshold on a human meter? @Wendy&Neko ? I know on a pet meter it’s 260-280 or so, but what about on a human meter? Like 230-250?

Frosty is still eating, and is very enthusiastic about the food, meowing, begging, and what Dan and I call “attacking” his food. He is eating slower than he used to, however, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He keeps making a habit of eating all of his meds but leaving 1/2 of the giant Vetmedin pill in the bowl. Then I have to try to trick him to take it. Today I wrapped it in cheese and he did eat it. Sometimes that doesn’t work. It’s a chewable treat-like medication, but he hates it bc i think he associates it with being sick and having it shoved in his mouth. My poor guy :(

I did find another skin tear on his left side yesterday. It wasn’t a huge gaping hole down to his muscle layer this time, but it looks like he pulled the fur and the top layer of skin out and it started bleeding. I found a pretty large scab with hair stuck in it. It didn’t look infected so I just put his onesie back on. I feel bad bc he’s still weak and having trouble walking, esp in his back legs, and the onesie does restrict his hind leg movement to an extent. He used to run around so fast that he would pop some of the clasps open . Now he hasn’t done that yet. He just tried to jump onto my lap and fell down :( I picked him up and put him on the desk. Now he’s sleeping. My baby ❤️

His belly is starting to look a little smaller. I am not sure if it’s just the onesie, but it feels much softer and less taught. I’m probably gonna change him in into a shirt in a few days so I’ll be able to have a good comparison having not seen it well for a few days. It does feel much better though.

I started him on his benazepril tonight. I hope it doesn’t affect his appetite too much. He is to finish the last of the cerenia tomorrow, and next week I am planning to restart his Vetoryl. He obviously needs it because I think his skin got worse form the malnutrition and the excess cortisol levels he’s producing. But he’s not in pain and no infection so I’m not that worried about it.

I still haven’t heard from the vet about getting the vetmedin compounded into a smaller pill. Does anyone order it from the compounding pharmacy? Maybe I need to take matters into my own hands. The benazepril and the lasix pills are so tiny he doesn’t even notice them. But he hates vetmedin. Any advice is appreciated!

All in all, we are doing pretty well. Every day truly feels like a gift. :cat:❤️:bighug:

This really sounds like a few steps of improvement for Frosty. I am really happy to hear it. Theresa liked the picture of Frosty in his onesie. I hope his skin tear heals quickly this time.

Aw, he looks so adorable in his onesie :bighug::bighug: I'm so happy he's continuing to do well and I hope that continues indefinitely.
I know how hard it is to see your furbaby have trouble just walking or jumping...Victor's neuropathy has gotten to the point where he walks really slowly and on his hocks almost all the time. He pretty much can't jump up at all anymore and can't even hold himself upright while going potty in his litterbox, so we hold him up while he goes; it really is heartbreaking. We're adding methyl B-12 to his food once a day so I really hope that will start to help eventually.
Here's a picture of him laying in the scale we got to weigh him, which he climbed onto by himself :cat:

Frosty looks very contented in that picture.:) Sorry about the tears again, but I hope you can safely get him back on the Vetoryl soon.

Renal threshold is ECID. I have seen some people say their kitties was as low as 160 on the human meter. Neko's was low 200's.
