Good morning LL, hope it is a beautiful day where you are. All of our best wishes and positive energy goes out to those in need today.

Zener is starting cycle #2 at his fattened up dose. He also is eating much better so we decided to try mixing in some lower carbs to see if we can gradually get him off medium carbs and onto lower carbs. Our first two mini meals were gobbled like a lumberjack. He had a bit of a drop @ +2 so we will be monitoring him and checking mid-cycle. He also used his litter box inside last night instead of piddle pads! :thumbup

We're off to hunt and gather at our local farmer's market on Sunday mornings. Only two more weeks then it's over for the season.

Only two more weeks? Wow that marks the end of the season doesn't it? I hope you are able to bring home something nice for the next couple of weeks. Enjoy! :-D

Hi Mary and STELLLLAAAA (sorry can't help myself). We live at 7000 feet here in Flagstaff and our lows are already in the mid to high 30s, so growing season is coming to a rapid close. Our greatest motivation to go to the market is the crepe stand! Hope you have a great Sunday!

Zener took the express train this morning, but not too far. So far our mixing of med and low carb is meeting Mr Z's culinary approval. :-D

Re: 9/25 Zener AMPS 322;+2 278;+3 204;+4.5 191 A Trak

We've been keeping our insulin in a small box in the refrigerator door because we thought that would be a little safer. Any thoughts on whether the regular opening and closing can jostle the insulin too much?

Hi Anne, this was from yesterday's condo. I'm not sure if it could jostle too much on the door. It sounds like you have it in another box. I keep my insulin vial in its box towards the back of the frig on the first shelf away from other products that I might accidentally knock over. Nice blue there for Zener on the first day of fattened dose. Have fun at the Farmer's Market.

Re: 9/25 Zener AMPS 322;+2 278;+3 204;+4.5 191 A Trak

Hi Ann, thanks for the information. We keep Zener's insulin in the box it comes in and use the paper insert with all the gory pharmaceutical details as the liner. After reading yours and a few other posts we decided to put the box with the insulin in it, inside of an empty plastic cool whip tub (we're not coffee driners ;-) , so no cans), used some tissue paper for packing and put it at the back of a shelf that doesn't get much action! A valuable side benefit of our new system (thanks to you!) is we can't miss the cool whip container when the insulin is out on the counter, so it will help us to remember to put it back in the frig!

Zener is feeling really good this morning. Backyard prowled, business done in the yard, and he hopped up onto his bench and watched the birds and squirrels do their morning routines. Now that his numbers are coming down again, his walking is much more stable, so we are thinking his limping may be more sugar related than arthritis. It's about time for us to get blood work done on him, so we'll ask the vet to check him for arthritis in his right leg then. Hope you are having a nice Sunday!

We're liking these numbers better than the last few days, though the big drop from +4.5 to 6 is a little nerve wracking!

Re: 9/25 Zener AMPS 322;+2 278;+3 204;+4.5 191;+6 137 A Trak

Good afternoon, guys! Hope you found some yummy treasures at the farmer's market today! Zener looks to be coming down quite nicely!

You generally don't want to keep your insulin on the door of the fridge. It's not so much the jostling that is the problem, but rather, it is the spot in the fridge that will have the greatest temperature variance because of all the opening/closing. Better to keep it on the shelf towards the back. I keep Willie's in a coffee cup on the bottom shelf towards the back. It is the shelf with the greatest height, so it's easy to reach back there for it.

Hope you're having a great day!

Re: 9/25 Zener AMPS 322;+2 278;+3 204;+4.5 191;+6 137;+7 134

Looks like Zener is up for a blue surf this afternoon! Yippee!

Christie: thank you for the input about storing the insulin and the temperature change on the door. I didn't think of that. We have put it in another container toward the back and surrounded by paper.

Off to the gym while I have a chance.

Yay for blue!! Way to go Zener!

Glad you got out to the farmers market. It is sad when they end for the year! Also glad you got more input on the insulin. I'm not sure if it makes a difference. However as expensiveas it is, I treat it like a crown jewel and try not to take any chances.

Hope you all have a great evening!!

Hi Lisa, Celi and Gwen, thanks for stopping by and encouraging Zener to surf the big blue one. :-D

Celi, the picture is hysterical.
The cat on the treadmill looks a lot like our neighbor's cat who Zener has been watching through our wooden fence very closely since we got home. Zener puffed up his tail really big and has been sitting next to the fence watching like a hawk. We managed to get him in for his PMPS, a little food and his shot but now he is back outside on patrol! We didn't have the heart to tell him we saw the kitty go back inside his house.

We still get a little nervous when we shoot blue numbers, but he was on the way up at PMPS so that helps us be a little more brave! ;-)
We're going to watch closely at the start of the cycle, just in case he hops the express train tonight. It is a school night and he loves to keep me up on a school night!

I told him the cat went inside and he didn't believe me.
Celi: thanks for the picture! Too funny! I did get out for a bike ride today. It was another spectacular fall day here in Flagstaff.

Well, well...we didn't stay nervous for long! What a jump at +1. Could it be food, could it be the B word flip_cat or could it be he's a cat?

Re: 9/25 Zener PMPS 158;+1 234;+3 298 Sigh ATrak

Zener had a great blue surf this AM cycle, and looks like he is starting a bounce tonight. :YMSIGH:

Beans not having such a good night tonight. We feel like it's one step forward, then two steps back. Also, Zener is not eating very well tonight. Just looks at his bowl and isn't interested in eating, even with fortiflora. I think I opened 4 or 5 cans of different foods and he would lick a little, then get up and walk away. His poor appetite remains an issue and we work so hard to try to maintain weight without much success. Anyway, maybe it's just the Sunday night tomorrow's Monday blues, but we are a bit down tonight.

We read on FMDB about beans using Pepcid AC for nausea. How do you know when to use it, indications? And how much? We're not sure that Zener has any stomach upset, but he looks at his bowl like he wants to eat but then isn't interested. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

aw, sorry you're feeling down tonight. i hope tomorrow brings a better appetite for zener. perhaps if you offered crepes? it would work for me!

Thanks Julie, we are putting on our best Scarlett O'Hara attitudes tonight, "after all, tomorrow is another day" and heading off to bed. Zener put away several freeze dried chicken treats and then chased Tillie up on the bed, so he is feeling okay. We may just be making somethin' outta nuthin'. Hope you all are settling in back at home and all is well. Ni Ni.
