Good Morning, Everyone,

I was concerned about Rusty late last night and early this morning because his breathing seemed so labored and he was sneezing more than usual (he is a sneezer). I can only think that the fish oil he started on at PMPS yesterday might have been the cause and am going to hold off on it for a few days to see if he returns to normal. The fish oil is supposed to be good for allergies, but maybe a cat can be allergic to it? In the meantime, I put L-lysine into his breakfast turkey this morning to counteract the sneezies.

Rusty had a good test (best AMPS number in several days), good shot (I hope), and 2 1/2 installments of breakfast. We had a brushing and now he is relaxing on the couch. It looks like it will turn into a pretty good day weatherwise, so we'll be able to have some outdoor time. I do hope he will come down today to numbers that are more typical of him.

Marje's Teddi is much in our thoughts and prayers this morning.
Continuing to send healing vines to all kitties in need of them.

Thanks again, everyone, for your support and suggestions yesterday,
Wishing you all a good day,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 9/25 Rusty AMPS 159

Much better start today. Paws crossed that it was just the fish oil. I hope the sneezes go away soon.

Re: 9/25 Rusty AMPS 159, +4 173, +5.5 207 ugh!

Well, it was a better start to the day but the cycle is going the wrong way for sure. I don't think it was a fur shot this morning (didn't smell Lev., didn't feel dampness). Rusty is fine after the sneezing/loud breathing of last night. We had a nice time outdoors this morning, exploring the woods and looking for "critters." I don't think he's sick.
Tonight I'm going to try a new cartridge, just to see if it might indeed be that the new pen isn't good.

Back later,

Awww i'm sorry Rusty is having pooey numbers, hopefully the new pen will work wonders and Rusty will be back in GREENS  !!

I bought Leo some fish oil supplements from a holistic vet website and tried to give him some last night, and he just sniffed and walked away......its really smelly stuff and i thought for sure he would have gobbled it up but NOPE.

I hope those sneezies go away soon, come back down Rusty there is absolutely nothing to see up there ;-)

Have a great day you 2.

Hope Rusty gets back on track for you Ella and I agree its more then likely a good idea to hold off introducing anything new until you see his numbers get back to normal for him

Morning Ella - so sorry for the non-Rusty numbers. I wish I had an answer for you. Interesting on the fish oil. I was thinking of starting that for elsa to help her with her allergic issues. I dunno... I am glad though that Rusty is breathing normally again, and that he had a great time outdoors.

We had heavy rains this morning, just went through a sun and blue sky spell, and now it is getting dark and gloomy again... Guess it was a good thing that I stayed home.

I hope you guys have a great day!

RUSTY!! SUN and warmth at Leo's = then off for eh KTSS!! I hope Teddi is feeling better today... ~~ Mannie

It's entirely possible that Rusty is allergic to fish. It's among the more common food allergies in cats.

Binks has very pronounced sneeze reactions to fishy foods...except the shrimp treats that JD inspired him to try.

hope the fish oil is the culprit, Ella...

Re: 9/25 Rusty AMPS 159, +4 173, +5.5 207, +9.5 229, PMPS 24

Hi again,
Well, we made it through the cycle with less than a 100-point rise, so I guess that's a plus. It may have been a fur shot this morning, although I don't think so. Anyway, I decided to go back to the box of Canadian cartridges this evening (I have 2 left), just to see if it might have been the single pen I bought at the pharmacy last week that is skewing Rusty's numbers even more than they had been skewed before I began using that pen. I hope the shot was successful this evening; I put it in the other shoulder. (I always used to alternate shoulders, but he became increasingly fussy when I shot into the left shoulder, so I have been only using the right. Now I'm going to go back to alternating the shot site, the way I did with Stu.)

Rusty had a great day with several excursions outdoors to bask in the warm sunshine, explore the wooded part of the yard (with supervision, of course), and "hunt" chipmunk in the stonewall. He also had 20 minutes of vigorous chases with Shadow. He doesn't much like Shadow, but he doesn't want him to take over his yard!

It would seem that Rusty is indeed allergic to fish (that would also explain why he doesn't like it). So no more fish oil Omega 3 for him. Maybe Edward and I will try it.

Wishing everyone a good evening,
Thanks again for visiting and giving support,

Ella & Rusty

Sounds like Rusty had a very nice day!

I bought some fish oil today and just gave it at PM. I hope Jesse's not allergic! When I asked for the Omega-3 at the supplement aisle, the lady warned me that it could interfere with some prescriptions and that I should check with my doctor. I told her it was for my cat, but the info was good to know anyway. Thought I'd pass the info along since you mentioned you might try it yourself.

Re: 9/25 Rusty AMPS 159, +4 173, +5.5 207, +9.5 229, PMPS 24

Sorry about Rusty's numbers. Hope he comes down soon for you. Interesting on the fish oil I didn't know it was a common allergy for cats. Poor sneezy Rusty. Turnup is a sneezer and it pains me to watch when she has a sneezing fit. Hopefully it was just the fish oil and it will clear up. At one time, we bought a huge bottle of capsules to give to our lab but he wouldn't touch it. Brian (DH) decided to try it and quit after a few days because he kept burping fish oil. Yuck!

Have a wonderful evening!!
