Yesterday http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=105103

I checked Ozy at PMPS+5 and +6 when he was 97 and 109...To my surprise he is 106 at AMPS. Wonder what happened during the last six hours????

He wasn't very active in the second part of yesterday. Still walking better than he was. He must need another chiro treatment!

His numbers yesterday were up and down and up and down, as though he had multiple nadirs.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106

Hi Donaleen! It looks like Ozy is enjoying those blues!

Remember that a little bit of difference in the BG numbers can be due to meter variance - it may be just as accurate to say that he's staying level as going up and down and up and down, since some of those numbers are essentially the same - so don't get stressed thinking he's doing weird stuff  I'm glad he's giving you some drama-free time in good numbers!

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106

Thanks, Amy and Wendy

Wendy...I thought I had everything... there is a profile tab in my SS. Is it not sufficient?

Also I track his meds in the remarks section of his SS. He gets B12 injections weekly and Zobaline daily (injections are for pancreatitis, Zobaline for neuropathy).

thanks

Ozy 48 at AM+3.3...looks like another dose reduction to me. True????

Gave him 2tsp food and .5 tsp maple syrup.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48

Go Ozy!    Time to come up a bit and surf safely. Or are you holding out for more maple/bacon?

That's a YES on the reduction. Congratulations! :-D :-D

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48

Holy guacamole, that Ozy loves green.
You are becoming a champ at the reductions!

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4-53

We need to go out... need to go to the grocery store.

On a happy note, Ozy went upstairs and laid in his old rocking chair spot. So cool.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4-53

This will be Ozy's sixth reduction since 9/7... Is this how it usually works? Is this unusual? What does it mean?

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4-53

There isn't really a "how it usually works", but sometimes a cat will hit a good dose, start seeing lots of normal numbers and then the pancreas beta cells start coming back from vacation. Other times you see a burst of reductions, then a pause, sometimes followed by an increase or two, then back down. In the FD dance, the cat is very much the one leading. Us beans just get to follow where they take us. The best news is how Ozy is feeling and getting back his old behaviours. :-D You are doing a great job with him!

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4-53

Thanks, Wendy. I don't know how people who work full time outside the house jobs manage it. I am doing a good job because I can manage to check him and be with him most of the time.

Today I had a feeling he was going down....

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4.5-52,+5-65

Congratulations on the dose reduction! Go Ozy!! What lovely numbers!!! Surf safely!!

Donalee, hope you have a great day!

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+4.5-52,+5-65

Congrats on the reducie. Ozy is looking good. That's great he's laying in his old spot.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+6.25-80

Thanks for stopping by Jamie and Carla. It is less stressful than it used to be when he went low but still more than a bit draining.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+2.6-66,+3.3-48,+6.25-80

sometimes a low number is really coming from a previous dose because you can see shed action for about 6 cycles after a shot. then if you take reductions back to back the reduction doesn't hold and you have to go back up.

but Ozy seems to be holding the reductions! woo-hoo! just keep that in the back of your mind if you see his numbers creeping up after a reduction. you want to keep him in the blue-green range as much as possible.

i know what you mean about monitoring during the day - i wasn't at work when punkin was diagnosed and when i went back to work, it definitely added a layer of complication! fortunately, i was experienced by then. i set the timed feeder for +3 and if the ps was lower, i might set it for several 30 minute intervals. then my DH or i came home at +4.5 every day to check him - sometimes one of us came then and if necessary, reset the timed feeder and the other one would come home in another hour or so. it was a bit crazy, but fortunately it's only 3.5 miles from work to home for each of us. i only have 30 minutes and all i did was drive home, check & feed him and drive back. i ate my lunch while i drove. ya just do what you have to do to keep them safe.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+3.3-48,+6.25-80,PMPS-237

Hi Julie. Thanks. Ozy is definitely bouncing now.... thinking of waiting till morning before taking a reduction. What do you think? Or are you saying hold off on the reduction because he has been going down so often?

thanks,
donaleen

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+3.3-48,+6.25-80,PMPS-237

I usually shoot through the bounce if the numbers are above 300. I would be sure to get some checks on Ozy tonight to make sure his numbes don't head back down.

Re: 9/25 Ozy AMPS-106,+3.3-48,+6.25-80,PMPS-237

I looked at your photos for the first time. What cuties! Ozy is a big guy! They remind me of my kitties, one big and one little....and lovey dovey.

Hope Ozy continues to do better and better!

Debbie

Oh, Sienne, thanks. I will put that under my rock. And I will watch him tonight.

And, Debbie, thanks for stopping by. Yes, we have wonderful kitties. Ozy is our big boy--his ideal weight is almost 16 lbs. Harpo is our middle boy---almost 10 lbs and Pippin is our tiny boy at 5lb 6oz (he is two and a half years old, so that is full grown). They all get along. Pippin is the bossiest.
