Hi LL!
I have been lurking almost every day, reading as many condos as I can. Cheering, praying, laughing and feeling heart broken over happenings in my LL family.
My good news is that Cleo is acting like she feels great! Good appy, good poo/pee. She can now jump to any counter with no assistance from her "stairs." She has gotten into a little kibble 2 times. Last time on 9/02. Since then kibble is only put out for Simon, when someone is sitting right near him, and it is put away as soon as Simon leaves. Cleo truly prefers wet food, just not most of the LC/LP that is best for her.
Another good thing: Before her DX, at her worse, Cleo always peed IN the LB. Giant, football pees!! Once she was DX'd, and I had to catch her for vet visit, testing, etc, she began letting her stream loose as soon as she knew she was cornered. That stopped as we progressed in our journey, thank goodness. But, Cleo then started peeing next to, or in the invisible LB about 50% of the time. Just in the laundry room boxes. I noticed that when we had to put the LB outside of the laundry room, for whatever reason, she always went IN the box. So, I moved both LB into the hallway outside of the laundry room about one month ago, shut the gate I have up for DGS, and she has not missed once!! It seems like she felt the whole laundry room floor was her LB. I will try putting one box back in this weekend, and leave the gate open to see how it goes.
Now my worry: Her BG has been running high for about the past week. I know her teeth are yucky looking, and I have put off a dental. I have been afraid due to her age (almost 16), and her heart murmur. Vet has graded it from a 1 to a 3/4, when stressed. I made an appt. for dental next Wed, 10/2. My questions are about the AB, if she needs one. I remember to say no Cerunia (sp), but what is a good replacement, hopefully liquid as she is hard to pill, and her mouth will be sore (I think). Also, is Bupe a good pain med, if needed? Any other special instructions I should give them since she is a diabetic kitty? I am a bundle of nerves, worrying about her high numbers, and then about her being knocked out. They will run a full blood panel the morning of her dental. This saves an extra, stressful visit to draw blood before dental.
Could her teeth be causing her higher numbers? Should I start giving her a little bit of insulin to bring her numbers down a little? I have not changed any food, we have not had any visitors to cause stress, and as I said she is acting likes she feels good. Sleeps a lot, but that is normal for her. She has actually been playing with some Mannie Nanners that I had ordered. She stretches and rolls from one to the other, giving them a hug/kick!!
Any thoughts appreciated! Sorry so long~
Thanks,
Jane
