Surgery Day Condo

Hello, LL! I want to start out by thanking EVERYONE that came by our condo yesterday with vines and prayers and words of encouragement. We deeply appreciate all of your love and support. :YMHUG:

Cinco is doing pretty well today. His appy was good at t/f/s, so he got his insulin. He devoured his second breakfast with no hesitation and just now demolished his lunch. :-D :-D :-D I gave him his Tramadol (for pain) and Clavamox at 9:30 am. I'd forgotten how hard he is to pill. Add in the collar and the terror of hurting him by pressing on or bumping his incision and you have a very nerve-wracking experience. The Clavamox must be a higher dose then I'm used to for the other cats, as the tablets are twice as big. I cut it down and it barely fit in a #3 gelcap, which is the largest I have. I'm glad I only have to pill him twice a day.

Cinco picked right up where he left off with the BGs. Interesting how he came back down to yellow with no insulin all day yesterday! Now he's surfing yellow, as he liked to do before the surgery. The question is, will he follow his usual pattern (of late) and drop tonight? Stay tuned...

I finally found a great bowl for feeding him with his collar on!!!!! It's actually two pieces, a heavy plastic base with a rubber strip around the bottom, and a heavy glass insert (think Pyrex). They're called Bowlmates and I found them at Petco. I just looked at them online and I don't see the small glass insert, but the rest of the pieces are there: Bowl Mates. I got the Small, and it's just the right size for him to fit his collar around. It doesn't move when he eats out of it, and he can't flip it over as there is no lip to catch with the collar! I've only been looking for the perfect dish for what? A year? Two? Eureka! :-D :-D :-D

Today's menu selection was Dave's Chicken and Herring, and it got four paws up!!! An unusual smash hit. All kitties CPC for once. Happy, happy Mamabean! :-D :-D

I have been parked in front of the computer too long and have gotten nothing done so far today, so I'm off to wash dishes, scoop boxes and figure out how to change the notification tone on my phone from that annoying sound that it came pre-programmed with! Hope everyone has a great Fursday.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: Prayers going out for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and her DH too, Elise's DM and Wendy's DM. Extra healing vines go to Molly - hope she's feeling better.

I saw those Bowlmates the other day and didn't quite understand the application. Glad they work for Cinco! Tucking that away in my bag of tricks... Glad his appy is happy!! Keep it up, Cinco man!!

What a great update on Cinco. I'm glad he's doing so well. That's great you found a bowl that works for him.

Thanks for stopping by, Tara and Carla.

I took a couple of pictures of Cinco eating. I love that I can put it down in front of him, and once he knows it's there I can walk away. Every other dish I've had to stay and hold on to so he wouldn't flip it or it wouldn't slide away from him.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the OV's tech looked at Cinco's mouth and said it looked pretty good - no tartar and no red gums! Yay! I'm glad I don't have to drag him to the regular vet for that. :-D

Thanks for the vines.....still not feeling 100% but oh well.....

Those pictures of Cinco are adorable! I know I shouldn't say that because the poor guy is stuck with the cone on his head, but he looks so flipping cute!

Hi Tricia,
I'm so glad that Cinco's surgery went well and that you found a bowl that works for him. He looks good eating! I wish Rusty wasn't allergic to fish. Dave's has a lot of combination flavors. I have about 10 cans of the chicken, so I hope it is back in production by the time I run out!

Have a good evening. Thanks for your visits. I'm hoping to feel better tomorrow. I'm a day behind Edward and he was quite a bit better today.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Yay for finding the perfect bowl for Cinco...and what a trooper he is with his cone!! I'm so glad his teeth are in good shape...the poor guy deserves the rest of the year (if not more) off from vetty visits (as does his bean)!! Sending along tons more speedy healing prayers!!

YAY for good appy and a bowl he can get to! Of course you could always go the Fancy Feast route!

I was looking at those bowls and trying to figure out why they'd be so much easier! The pictures help a lot!

Looks like the bottom bowl raises the middle bowl up off the floor? What a great idea!

It's great to see Cinco's enjoying his fuds though and doing so well after his surgery!

Feel better soon Cinco!...and let's start working on those numbers too!

Hi Tricia :YMHUG: . I'm so sorry I didn't post on your condo yesterday, I did read it as I was falling asleep and was so happy everything went well for surgery :-D . I hate what these 12 hour shifts are doing to me...seems I'll never get off them till I find a new job as people are quitting all over. Pretty awesome on the fuds dish, it's so frustrating when you're hunting for the "perfect" not to be found thing! Woo hoo! I hope your errands all got done so you can have some relaxing time ;-) Poor Cinco probably wonders if that #@)!! collar will ever disappear

(PS I did read what you wrote a bit ago to my post on the condo and the new girls are good, I still need to do a condo someday with pics if I get to upload/time to do it, house is still for sale-ugh, job still super busy long shifts...I feel so out of touch with everyone on here but I am keeping up and rooting for everyone, keeping all the sugar kitties and the civies and beans in my thoughts and prayers!)

Also, another WOO HOO! on the teeth looking good. Scritches to all the kitties. Much hugs to you, I have to hit the hay now. I really hope on my next day off to hit some condos. Have a good night :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Flat yellows leads to.... more flat yellows. Oh well, great opportunity to catch up on a little sleep maybe. You must be running on empty with all the worrying about Cinco. :YMHUG: I'm so happy to hear how well he's doing today.

Those bowls look amazing. If only they were sold in Canada (we don't have Petco).

Re: 9/25 Cinco PMPS 245 +2 252 +4 233

Thanks for visiting, Molly, Ella, Amy, Ann, Julie, Chris, Rachel, Nadine and Wendy.

Molly, I don't know how you can think he's cute from those pics - you can't see his head! He is kinda cute, though.

Ella, we had yet another success tonight - Dave's Gobbleicious Gourmet. Everyone loved it. I keep thinking I'm going to find out something bad about this stuff - it seems too good to be true.

Amy, I think he's finally used to wearing that wretched cone. He still gets turned around more easily when he bumps into stuff - probably because he can't feel what it is he bumped into.

Ann, Actually, I was originally looking for something like those, but I quickly realized he'd just knock them over!

Chris, not only is the inner bowl raised off the floor, but there is no lip, which was a problem with others - he'd catch it with the collar and flip it. Also, both the base and the bowl are heavy, so they don't move when he's eating. The inner bowl is more shallow than most bowls, too, which is important as his reach is limited by the collar.

Rachel, so lovely to hear from you and know that all is well. Sorry things are so crazy at tbp. 12 hour shifts? UGH! What do you do, anyway? I don't think I ever knew.

Wendy, I was hoping the flat yellows would lead to blue, or even green, but so far so bad. Of course, Cinco has pulled some late cycle stunts recently, so I'm not ruling anything out! If you decide you want one of those bowls, and can't get one in one of your cross border trips, I could always pick one (or more) up and send them to you. I'd be more than happy to do so. From what I can tell, they aren't available anywhere but Petco. I'm wondering if they're discontinuing the glass inner bowl for some reason - they only had it in medium on the website. I'd better run out and get a couple more.

Cinco's appy is beyond happy, I'd say it's downright ecstatic. At t/f/s time, it took both of us to hold him down to test him - he could smell the food and wanted to get at it! It's impossible to test him while he's eating with that collar on. He inhaled every bite of dinner and the seconds I gave him. When I tested him at +2 he was the same way - get outta my way, Mama. I's hungry!

Love to hear about ecstatic appy. He must be feeling great. :-D

I swing by a Petco every time I do a cross border strips run - you've just given me another reason to stop there. I was thinking that our local shelter really needs something like those bowls. They have so many kitties in cones (spay, neuter, etc.).
