I was still kicking myself over last nights fur shot and then I went and did it again this morning. I think the AMPS number was a bad test strip or something, but he was acting like he does when his numbers are low. Should have retested but the dogs were barking like crazy . And then I gave him another fur shot so I figured it really did not matter at that point. I managed to get all the insulin into him tonight so hopefully these numbers will come down. Charms seems to be acting fine with these higher numbers. He has a great appetite as usual, took him out to scratch the tree in the front yard. He loves that!
I really have to build up my confidence again. Everyone here is so supportive, thank you. I gave a lot of fur shots when Charms was first diagnosed but until recently I thought that was all behind me. Once I start it is like I just get really panicky at shot time. So much is riding on these injections, I feel it is such a huge responsibility to do it right and the pressure gets to me. Like I said yesterday- there is always tomorrow! Thanks again for all the support- Sam

Darn furshot. I always find they come in bunches and then they go away for a while. I broke my elbow in February and I felt like every other shot was a fur shot. However, it's amazing how fast cats do recover. You have to keep remembering that we don't know how long our cats were diabetic before they were diagnosed and probably in high numbers for a while. Anything we get in now is helping.

I just try to find a place with good light, put Neko on my lap, and do a little cuddling to relax both of us before I give the shot. Is Charms long or short haired?

Wendy- So sorry to hear about your elbow. I can imagine that was a painful experience, and a long recovery, How do you manage to row so much??!! I hope it has healed well.

Charms has short, very coarse hair. I pull it back when I make the tent so I see skin and insert the needle into the skin. I really am baffled about why I cannot seem to make this work. You are so right about him bouncing back, I did give him two good shots and he got some lovely greens today. You will see that in today's condo. You are also right about the bunches. I did so well for so long and now this is getting really bad, almost every other shot bad. If you can think of what else I maybe doing wrong please let me know. Getting crazy here. - Thanks, Sam
