Started OTJ trial today as suggested. Interesting morning because I decided that in an effort to feed more smaller meals I would feed when I got up at 5:30, then again before I left for work at 7:30. Well, then I tested at 6:30 and got a 126 reading. The higher number freaked me out a little (oh no, first day OTJ trial, and he reads 126!). Waited an hour and tested again and got 99. Then fed again. I think tomorrow I will just do the usual test at 7:00ish and feed 7:15ish. I'll have my mom feed a couple of times during the day, then I'll feed again when I get home and again before bed. He was 81 tonight at 7:00 after not having eaten since 3:00.
Note on newly diagnosed with asthma civvie: I'm switching her over from prednisolone pill to inhaled meds. Thanks to someone here's recommendation of feline asthma website, I ended up on a good Yahoo board and have gotten some good advice, including the advice to get her off the pills. The mask arrives in a few days, and I'll pick up inhaler then. I have a feeling that giving a cat an asthmatic inhaler will be more exciting than ear pricking and insulin shooting.
