? 9/24 Sulls starting Lantus tomorrow (again) - help choosing TR or SLGS?

Hello everyone!
We were unable to fill the prescription last night (long story but basically apparently the vet had to send the prescription to the pharmacy and they didn't) so had to postpone starting lantus for another day.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise since it gave us some extra time to read about TR and SLGS and make our decision.

So right now we're leaning towards TR cause sounds like it's the most effective option to get Sulls into remission AND because it sounds like we can handle it.

Questions:
1) If we start on TR but for whatever reason decide that it's not working for us, can we safely/quickly switch to SLGS?
2) If we are going with TR, i'd like a confirmation on a starting dose. So Sull's "ideal" weight is 13lb (he's currently overweight by about 4lb). So we're thinking 1.5 units is a good place to start. Do you guys agree?

Hi, Aliona!:)

I don't give dosing advice. Just wanted to say hello and link your thread from yesterday:https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...-lantus-tomorrow-starting-dose-advice.235810/
Every day you start a new thread, and include a link in the new thread to the previous day's thread. It keeps all info related to Sulls together and makes it easy for the people helping you to look back and see any relevant information.

Also, there is a "?" prefix that you can add to your thread title to help draw attention to it. You can edit the title by clicking on the "thread tools" link, located just below your title and all the way to the righthand side of the screen.

Some experts/helpers will do a quick scan through the many threads in the forum, just looking for who has "?" prefixes. Once your question has been answered, then you can remove it.
You are going to be in good hands here. :bighug:

Welcome. Yes! You can switch whenever you want. I think 1.25 or 1.50 or is a good starting dose but see what others think. As Lyla suggested, add the ? prefix.
