Haven`t had ~O) ~O) ~O) yet, so not many thoughts except that the AMPS 187 was a falling number, possibly the meal he had finished at +10.25 wearing off? +1/165 (which is actually +1 plus 13 minutes) is deceptively mellow and he is going to drop significantly by +2. This is my prediction.

Reuben feels pretty good; he has taken up residence on top of the credenza next to the big picture window-- great birdseye view of the city for him, and lots of sun and light for me to see for testing and shooting and petting. He won`t let me hold him again -- could be not enough bupe, could be he's a cat.

Ongoing Medications:
Potencil 50mg bid
pepcid 2.5mgbid
bupe - 0.08ml to 0.10 every 8 hours or so, ideally
(this works better if you don`t spill the last vial at 3am and run out)
miralax - a few granules on the food; hineycam© on

Nice numbers - hope the nice blue day continues. And hanging on the credenza in the sun ... what could be better for a kitty? :smile:

No worries, Alexa! When you factor in meter variance, those two numbers (from 208 to 187) are basically still within the safe surf zone :smile:

I'm sorry Reuben isn't being his usual velco-kitty self today. I hope the bupe helps! Thinking of you both!

Jane - thank you so much for telling me that it was a surf, not a fall. and, that explains the very mellow nature of our day so far! what are the parameters of a surf, just so i know?

...speaking of bupe - i have to go out and get more today, and am hoping to be able to leave him from +5 to+7 roughly -- anyone have an opinion on this? :razz: he was very stable yesterday during this time and am hoping for the same...

Hi Alexa, Nice numbers for Reuben yesterday and today! I am just starting to catch up after vacation, looks like you had some very colorful times while I was away. Glad Reuben is feeling good and relaxing in the sun, sounds great!

Ha, well, this is where - at least to me - it gets a bit tricky :lol: We like to remind people of "meter variance", which covers about 20% in either direction of whatever number one has had from a test. Of course, this comes with confusing issues of its own! If you test and get a 60, 20% variance would be 12 points, so it could be between 72 and 48... For a tested 48, you'd react differently than for a tested 72... It's good to remember that the number you're getting off the meter may not be *exactly* accurate. But it's a little distracting to get too caught up in meter variance, I always find. Still, for defining a surf, the issue of variance comes up. If you tested every hour one day, and got a 60, then a 69, then a 56, then a 64... That would be a surf. If the range was higher up, the meter variance would allow for greater fluctuation, meaning if you had a 240, then a 261, then 232, then a 256, that would still essentially be a surf. The higher the surf, the wider the fluctuation window (based on 20% meyter variance, remember).

I'm sure the others will pipe in on this too. I feel like maybe I'm not explaining it clearly enough. Does it make more sense at all, now?

If ever you are worried about leaving your cat, but you need to - you can leave out food, varying the carbs percentage according to where the cat is in its cycle, and where the nadir has been lately (if any trend).

Textbook! Yes...I'd give him a couple tsp of LC. Because his +2 is almost the same as PMPS, I'd expect a typical active lantus cycle.
