It's too early to be typing and I'm going back to sleep, so I shall make this short...Shasta is a snotty brat! Numbers look so much better to start with, but dang if this girl didn't turn her nose up at her FF Chicken Feast now that she knows the Florentine flavors exist! I thought making a condo and typing on this iPad was difficult enough...found out it is much more difficult while holding a food bowl in my dominant hand!!!! grr_red

Anyways, back to bed. I think she may have just left me a prezzie in the LB, but I'll definitely check later. Be back in a bit.

~Deborah & Miss I Don't Want To Eat Anything Mom Puts Down For Me Shasta

Dear Poopy, please do not encourage Shasta. She already suffers from Diva Syndrome. Thank you, Shasta's bean

Re: 9/23 Shasta AMPS=245; +1=273; +2=198; +3=136

Poopy,

Ignore my mom. Here's what you do: refuse to eat when she puts fuds down, circle around her legs and meow softly (softer is better...she'll think you're sad and melancholy). Oh yeah, and do lots of napping...and when she wakes you, pick your head up slowly like you're starving to death and you're lethargic (I hear mom say that word sometimes...thank goodness for spell check!) Lastly, walk around slowly, sometimes aimlessly, and every once in a while, just stop and drop. But after you drop, take a nap. Don't get all dramatic and start shaking or vomiting. That's a definite trip to the v-e-t. :o Before you know it, she'll be holding your bowl for you, gently rubbing your belly, giving you kisses and scritches, and showering you with lots of yummy treats. Hope this helps. ;-)

Next on the list...world dominance! xo, Shasta

Re: 9/23 Shasta AMPS=245; +1=273; +2=198; +3=136; +4=99; +7=

Well, I must say that I wasn't expecting the low 100's for her +7. I hope she didn't dip too low while I was gone from +4 - +7. I left her some 2%, but not a ton. Oh goodness, here we go again with the paranoia now that we're trying out a new feeding schedule. :YMSIGH:

Hope all the kitties and beans are doing well today. Ok, I'm serious about needing to work today. I'm even sitting at my desktop...so no distracting me...you hear?! (we'll see what kind of will power I have...house is already cleaned, spaghetti is in the crock pot...what else can I distract myself with...)

Re: 9/23 Shasta AMPS=245; +1=273; +2=198; +3=136; +4=99; +7=

Weeding? Surely that isn't done.  I need to work too but Zener just went to sleep in my lap and the world has stopped.
Liz

Re: 9/23 Shasta +10=131; PMPS=286

 Can someone please explain to me how in the heck my cat can go from 131 at +10 to 286 at PMPS without any influence of food?? I'm sure there's some logical explanation, but my mind is reeling!!! I was so excited when I got that +10 thinking the new food regiment might be working...then came the PMPS. Oh pooh!

Re: 9/23 Shasta +10=131; PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187

haha! Liz, no weeds today. However, Shasta and her cuteness was distraction enough!!!

Queen Shasta,

With all due respect, my Queen, ignore fuds? Is your crown too tight? Then my kitty Mia will get there first and eat all my yummy gravy! I can't have that! It's my favorite part of fuds! I like the rest of it though and think it will work. Bean is a softy when it comes to me. I get to walk all over her and plop down on her chest or lap whenever I choose. And thanks for the tip about the v-e-t. How we gonna rule the world? What's next?

Your loyal subject,
Poopy

 Can someone please explain to me how in the heck my cat can go from 131 at +9 to 286 at PMPS without any influence of food?? I'm sure there's some logical explanation, but my mind is reeling!!! I was so excited when I got that +9 thinking the new food regiment might be working...then came the PMPS. Oh pooh!

Again, not that I'm complaining about the lovely blues and greens...but I just don't understand that ENORMOUS leap in 2 hours. Then again, what goes down, must come back up and if she can drop over a hundred points...I guess she can jump just as much! :YMSIGH:

Correction: the 131 was at +9 (not +10, as previously noted.) but still...3 hours difference and 155 point difference w/ no immediate food influence. I know...cats will be cats.

Re: 9/23 Shasta +10=131; PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +

Woo-hoo, Shasta! +4 is looking GOOD!!! Now, eat your yummy food your mama works so hard to get for you. k?

Have a great night -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 9/23 Shasta +9=131; PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4

Thanks Libby! She's been eating pretty well lately...especially when I hold her bowl for her and speak sweetly to encourage her to keep eating!  What a silly girl she is! Hope you and Hershey are having a great night!!

Re: 9/23 Shasta +9=131; PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4

Oh, cats! Can't live with 'em, can't . . . well, you know. Won't eat the food, and bounces like a pogo stick! Sorry, you must be going mad with all of that. I think you are right, she does like the attention, but I hope she's a little less diva for you tomorrow!

Re: 9/23 Shasta PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4=73; +5=

The easy explanation is that from the point of nadir, the influence of the insulin is steadily decreasing. Shasta's nadir during the AM cycle was at +4. As the insulin was wearing off, there was upward momentum. It's not dissimilar to when a cat's numbers are dropping at the beginning of the cycle -- there can be downward momentum. There can also be other factors -- something scared Shasta and there was a release of stress hormones. There was contraband. Or, given that the cycle started off yellow, it ended at about the same place.

Re: 9/23 Shasta PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4=73; +5=

Thanks Dale! They definitely keep us on our toes, guessing as to their next move, and scratching our heads when they totally take a different turn than we anticipated!  But there's one thing for sure, I can't live without her and I love her so much! I hope she's less diva for me, too! I guess it's a good thing that I love my job so much, but it's been really hard to love it this year with my desire to stay home and watch my cat 24/7!!  Hope you all have a wonderful night!

Re: 9/23 Shasta PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4=73; +5=

Thanks Sienne! This is all so fascinating, irritating, scary and bizarre. As far as I know, nothing scared her...she was in my office with me all day as I worked on the computer. There shouldn't be any contraband...just the two of us...but if she got pizza delivered and didn't offer me any...I'll ground her 'til next week!

hmmm...I don't know. :YMSIGH: You're right...it could be a number of things or just Shasta being Shasta. Her nadir tonight was +5, but the +5.5 I got of 68 was about 15 minutes after she had a small snack...so, I assume it was food influenced. But she would normally be heading up at this point, anyways. In fact, I was kind of surprised to see her +5 dip lower than her +4. That's slightly unusual for her. Oh well, I'll get a +6, shortly, and then off to bed (barring no weird low numbers.)

Thank you for the insight, Sienne! Hope you have a great night.

Hi Deborah - Sorry for the late visit. A hike day for me, and I an soooooo behind on everything, including condos! Sometimes I don't know where time goes...

Love the Poopy / Shasta exchange - way too funny, and that made my night,...

Great numbers for Shanta tonight! And Shasta - be a good kitty and eat your fuds!

I hope your day has been a good one!

Re: 9/23 Shasta PMPS=286; +1=305; +2=187; +3=140; +4=73; +5=

Deborah

Just wondering if you fed that snotty cat late in the cycle? That would cause numbers to go up.

I think her insulin just pooped out. Some days, we get different rates of absorption for the same dose shot the same day.

Who knows? Just the snotty cat!
