We spent two hours sitting in the waiting room at the vet office. I was dying! There were the largest dogs I have ever seen congregated in that small room ..OMG...it was unbelievable. I sat with the carrier on my lap...and when I put it on the floor once, a little puppy went over to the side and Raja spit and hissed and he jumped to the ceiling! I can laugh now, but I was pretty tired of sitting there.

She got the blood drawn and a cystocentesis. Teeth don't look bad...come back in 6 months for a dental. She is 13.4lbs and they almost gave her a shot of Convenia...the vet tech remembered so they gave her nothing. they will have the results tomorrow.

Does anyone else give their kitties Advantage even if they do not go outside/ She said Raja had a little rash on her belly and that the Advantage helps clear that up....I never saw a flea or evidence of any. They had take her into another room for the tests and when we took her out, she tinkled on the examination table. I remembered all the things I read about all the FDMB kitties and their bladder stories...LOL

They said to hold off on insulin until the test results come back. they also said I was overly conscientious and well, the vet teach just about called me a worrywart! They said that the 200s aren't too bad...maybe it is stress.

So, I am wondering if you think I should start tonight on the .25u that Jill mentioned yesterday. I didn't give it this morning Jill, if you are out there  ...but I am ready to start tonight if you think that's best.
What a morning! I am waiting now for the petsitter to come in 2 hours....first time we are meeting...this little weekend away is looking worser and worser to me now...horribler and horribler... NOT looking forward to it anymore ....

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Arrgh, so stressful having this happen right when you're about to go away. I hope you get some answers quickly. If it is an infection might the BGs start to come back down on their own as you treat it? If you were going to be home I'd vote for some insulin, depending on what the tests show of course. Being away, though, I don't know...

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Oh Pat, 2 hours in the waiting room?! That's terrible! I can feel your stress and worry in your post, and I totally know how you feel. All I can say is try not to worry too much about the weekend away until you get Raja's results back. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Hugs for all of you!

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

No advice on the insulin, sorry, but ugh, what a morning! I can't believe you had to wait that long in the waiting room. :YMSIGH:

My vet always tried to feed me the "as long as she's under 200" line too. Maybe to them and the beans they deal with, 200s would be great. But for people like us, and for kitties like Raja who have been under 100 for a really long time, 261 is NOT acceptable. Especially when that number was taken at home, not under the influence of vet stress. I can't believe the vet tech was that way with you, too. Worrywart indeed. :-x

Sending healing vines to Raja, and calming vines to you. (((Pat))) (((Raja)))

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Overly-conscientious? are you kidding? you are the best mamabean love can buy, pat.

celi

(i know binks will be outraged when he hears...he ripped outta here with a bag of face cream and makeup...not sure where he's headed, but i hope he doesnt bring a bunch of Drag Cats to your place tonight...they kinda dramatic and all...)

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Whoa Pat
I did a double take when I saw Raja's condo just now. Maybe they just don't want you to go away and they cooked this whole scheme up to try and keep you home-
Hang in there-

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Hi Pat, I'm sorry you and Raja had to go through such a stressful morning at the vet's. We had a vet once where we always had to wait one or two hours, but he was so good, and so kind, that we didn't mind (Alice minded sitting there with all those droolers, snakes, and parrots , however!). I hope you will get the results of the tests very soon and can settle on a plan of action. Now, sit back and try to relax. Don't even think about your weekend away. It will be OK.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

I think I will shoot the .1u tonight and see how she does on that. I want to help her pancreas out a little and I think that the insulin is needed, regardless of what they find tomorrow....
Or should I shoot .20? I am not sure...but she will get some anyway...

Thank you all for your kind words....
To add insult to injury, the new petsitter came today. I closed all the doors in the place so they wouldn't get "lost". She arrived and Raja sniffed her hand. Raja was there at the moment, not to say hello to the strange, but rather to eat. The offered hand was in the way for the moment. She scooted way right after. She is not the warm and fuzzy one with strangers. Raja had enough of strange women after the vet and the vet techs this morning~~ she was not pleased at meeting another.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Sorry about that experience, Pat....crazy and poor Raja. We sending healing vines as well so Raja will get back down and you can go on your trip resting easy.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

Oh Pat, I saw your yesterday condo this morning and didn't want to bump that up. Finally found today's and a few minutes to drop by. Sorry Raja decided to come back to visit us all, but I'm sure it will be a quick visit

What a trip to the vets...worrywart??? No insulin under 200??? Sheesh...not for us

I know you'll have Ms. Raja back to the falls in no time!

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

I'm so sorry for your stressful morning. I'm sending healing vines - I hope whatever they find will be quickly fixed and Raja back to normal.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!

(was that the question?)

If she's still yellow, I would shoot for sure. So far it doesn't look like she is able to do it on her own. Hopefully it will be a quick return visit from the falls.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

What a horrible morning for ya. Worrywart??? Not. A very good momma bean...absolutely.

Sending calm, healing thoughts vines for dear Raja.

I hope you can get away for your weekend....You certainly deserve it.

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

My goodness what a day its been for you!
Poor Raja! Doesn't like strange women! lol! I'm sure she will get along just fine with DPS.
Just needs a little time to settle down.

Any updates on Raja's numbers?

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=264

AMBG=264 (I couldn't read my own writing this morning!) 261
+5=276
PMPS=201 ~.1u
I cannot believe I am writing this. She was such a good girl when I tested her and then gave her the little drop of insulin. Can you believe that she was higher than Shadow tonight? Shhhh.... I didn't make a big deal out of it, but I am telling you guys. She would be crushed! Actually she was higher than he was all day long!!
We will see what this tiny drop does if anything. She might need more but I'd like to see what happens with this for starters.

Strange that when they were first dx, it was just what i had to do at the time...dealing with two tests and two insulin shots. I had it down to a science I guess. I look back on it and realize that I was so ignorant of so many things back then. You guys have taught me so much over the 13 months. And now, back to doing the double motions is so alien to me. Time to get up -to-speed again.
Thank you all for your kind words today...you guys are the BEST!

Re: 9/23 Raja AMBG=261

I hope you get her right back on track, Pat. Trying saying that 3 times fast

J.D. and Ginger should be arriving any moment.

It should be a howling good time, like always :-D

They can stay to clean up after The Party too.

Pat! Couldn't believe there was a condo with Raja's name on it!

So sorry you had such a stressful day. I hope this is just a bump in the road and Raja's back on track in no time.

Hi Pat. I was hoping for some good news from vet by tonite. But look, Raja's pmps isn't so bad. I know, to you it is.
Having to sit for two hours with your kitty when you're worried about her was awful.
I hope the little insulin you give her, will bring her back down.

Hi Pat. You've had quite the day haven't you? I'm glad that you decided to start Raja back on a little juice. Hopefully it won't be for very long. Hope all the test results come back the way we want. Hang in there.

What is the deal - Raja and Spot both returning from the falls - what is up with that? What are they up too?? Pat, I sincerely hope that this is just a quick trip back to LL with Raja. How upsetting for you, especially given that you are going away for the weekend. How much hair have you pulled out?? Me, after all I learned - I wouldn't listen to the vet either - 200's are not fine.....

Haven't been here all week and I come on to find this! I will need to read up on what happened.

Man this sucks just when you are trying to go away too. If it helps any after three visits with our pet sitter even miss buster no longer runs away she will stay in the room. Under the coffee table but in the room! The last time my sitter left a note "I think syd and I are in love". I smiled when I read that.

Give them time to get used to the sitter and they will come around. And most importantly. What do you think of the sitter?

Chin up pat you can do this its like riding a bike you never forget and always remember the sore butt! :).
