Yesterday flat pink and red

Something about the change in seasons made me want to try something different . . . now I have bangs. Happily Papaya must have also been in the mood for something different than what was getting to be the daily routine of a black slide to green. Yesterday was all pinks and reds, which was not surprising in the morning but weird for the PM cycle. I thought she was feeling fine because she spent the evening grooming and even giving herself a cat pedicure, leaned back on the couch with her front paws wrapped around a back leg to hold it while she slurped between all her toes.

I guess the flat pink & red was what she needed to get out of the bounce routine, though, and started off with a nicer number today. In fact she hopped down off the bed and came out to the hallway for her first breakfast, sitting in her waiting-for-food pose (on her bottom with back legs sticking out front) on the rug where she could see me in the kitchen. She was giving cute little meows of encouragement to hurry me up with getting her breakfast. She was down to blue before I left for work, ate the food I offered and then quickly burrowed back under the quilt. Lately she's been good about eating the food I leave out, so hopefully she will have a snack at the right time today to keep her from bouncing up again by PM.

Thanks for visiting yesterday Rachel, and thanks very much for the thoughtful words last night, Kelly, to keep me focused on what is going RIGHT here.

Hope this means Papaya will start to even out for you. Who knows what is in store!

Congrats on the bangs! Bangs are fun!

Nice sliding for Papaya. I hope she surfed the rest of the day for you. Enjoy your bangs.

Hi Rhiannon, Dara and Carla; thanks for visiting. Papaya didn't eat what I left out today after all, but I guess she wasn't feeling the need for more food if she wasn't dropping too fast. PMPS is better than I've seen for a couple cycles especially since it's not part of an all-day slide from black. So far so good . . . wonder what she has planned for tonight?

Hi Amy!
Thank you very much for answering to my yesterday's request.
I LOOOOVE today's Papaya report!
Papaya must be feeling extra good to be beautifying her toe nails.
Nice PMPS!
I hope she'll do a nice gentle slide to blue/green.

Re: 9/23 Papaya AMPS=367 +4=167 PMPS=283 +5=273

Thanks Kelly and Mariko! Oddly, tonight's PM cycle is again as flat as Saskatchewan. Yesterday it was high pink/red, tonight it is yellow. So she does seem to be working her way down, without the bounces.

The only thing I changed is when I give her the Metamucil. Yesterday morning I started putting it in her +1.5 food rather than her PS meal, because I was reading how it may slow how fast the stomach empties, which in diabetic people can slow the amount their BG goes up after a meal. I thought maybe if I use that effect a little later in the cycle to slow her absorbing the food to be more spread out as the insulin is kicking in, it would help to avoid the quick drops that make her bounce and bounce and bounce.

It's way too soon to tell whether it's really having an effect - with how unpredictable Papaya is maybe this was just what she was going to do anyway - but I find it interesting that this morning I totally forgot the Metamucil since I didn't add it to the PS meal and wasn't in the habit for the +1.5 so it got completely missed, and she did drop quite quickly. The three other cycles where she's had it with the +1.5 meal have been very, very flat, which is very unusual for Papaya. I would like them to be flat and LOWER but one step at a time. I'm curious to see over the next few cycles whether this is a trend that will continue.

Flat cat has got to feel better for Papaya that rapid drops and zooms. Good luck on the science experiment.
