The preshot numbers still stink and he is still all cattywampus ((Cat-e-wampus) Ha!) with the numbers, but I feel like he is trending down ever so slowly.

:) I hope this is a sign of good things to come.
I caught him playing hide-and-ambush with my younger cat earlier, it was was pretty cute

He was at 190 preshot on the pet Meter! His second lowest ever at that time! C'mon buddy. Keep up the good work!

Yeah for improvements!

It's really important for you to get those PM tests in though......it looks like what's happened lately is that Obie has taken a fast dive (435-280 on 9/20 and 505-244 on 9/21) and then you see the higher AM pre-shot numbers

It looks like he may be diving at night, and bouncing during the day and the only way we're going to know is to get those dreaded "middle of the night" tests in occasionally.

If you can get a +2 each cycle, that can be a good clue as to where he might be going later in the cycle ...I call it my "crystal ball" test

If the +2 is lower than the PS, that can mean that he's going to go much lower during that cycle and it's really important for you to get more tests in later in the cycle

If the +2 is about the same as the PS, then it's usually going to be a more "normal" cycle, where they gradually go down until nadir and then gradually go back up

If the +2 is higher, then he may be starting a bounce, and those are the times you may be able to take a break on the testing later on

Of course ECID and the only way to know for sure what's going on with Obie is to keep testing and see if you can catch him when he's going lower and then bouncing.

With him starting under 200 tonight, I'd REALLY try to get that +2 tonight to see if he might be planning a big move! Nice to see some blue in his spreadsheet!

Here's your post from yesterday.

Funny that the vet that sells you the expensive meter and the expensive strips is insisting that you have to use the pet meter/strips. Most everyone else here uses human meters/strips. The cheapest way to survive the Sugar Dance with these kitties is to go with one of the Walmart meters, like the relion you have, and buy the generic Arkray strips that go with them through http://www.americandiabeteswholesale.com. I always bought their 5 boxes for the price of 4 - I want to say that was 250 strips for $70ish. If you register first through http://www.mrrebates.com you can earn checks for 4% back at ADW. I used to get checks in the $30 range from them.

No one is trying to give you a bad time, but yes, it is really hard to imagine what the spreadsheet looks like with this mix of AT and human glucometers, much less give you dosing advice. I don't think there is any risk at all of sticking with the human glucometers through low numbers. If there were, we'd have a lot of kitties with a lot of problems, and that just doesn't happen. Punkin got as low as 32 using a human meter without symptoms. That's more the norm than anything else.

I can't help you with the vet issue. :-D
