I hope everyone had a great weekend, and a good Sunday yesterday. Our weather yesterday was such a mixed bag.... Wet rains and winds, and overall nastiness, the kind that makes the radar turn red. By 2 PM the sun had come out, and we ended up with a very nice sunset. I did head on out on a hike yesterday, after much debate. It was difficult to find anywhere that would be dry for any length of time. I finally chose the one I did as I knew even if wet, there was tree-cover, and it should be OK, which it was! here is what I wrote in last night's post: "HI everyone! After a stormy wet start here we are now looking at sunshine, and a pretty afternoon. Go figure! With really ugly weather on the horizon at O-Dark-Thirty this morning the question arose: to hike, or not to hike.... the answer was YES, so then... WHERE? Really nasty rains were just about everywhere, eastern Washington looked good, but the passes to get there were a mess. SO, for whatever reason I ended up in Bellingham, at Whatcom Falls. In the long run it proved to be a great choice. The falls are gorgeous, the rains held off the whole time I was on the trails, and I found places there I had not hiked before. YaHOO on it all.... WHAT FUN! Nicholas and I have been to Whatcom Falls many many times. It is one of those spots that he can hike well, with good easy access to the creek. I cannot remember the number of leaves and sticks we have tossed off the creeks' bridge... thousands! I tossed one today for him. I watched it float, turbulently, under the bridge and out the other side. Pooh Sticks! I love the falls there - there are sections where you can walk out onto the edge of the Falls, watch it fall over the boulders. That alone is really kinda cool. I hope that once Nicholas and I start to take William that he will like it as well. Whatcom Falls also has a small fish hatchery there too. Another one of Nicholas fav stops. He LOVE to watch the rainbows in the tanks. So I did that for him too." Picassa links: Whatcom Falls, and Rainbows!, fish that is....

Normalcy in MusketeerVille!   :-D I love to go on hikes, since I know that when I get home that the welcoming committee will be there, waiting to dish out lots of "LOOK! Mom's HOME!!". It was no exception yesterday. :-D Elsa was waiting at the top of the stairs, right behind Lola and Bug. It was as if she was saying: "You're early! What's up with that?" she had the most puzzled look on her face. I was early, so much better than late. I hate being late, as then I get three stares that cut one off at the knees, and then there is that dreaded blood oath I signed that says: "I SHALL NOT BE LATE! EVER!!" so.... best to be on time... Bug was waiting in his usual spot, ever so nonchalantly. Lola was rolling on the stairs as she always does. At least this time she rolled back and forth, and not down the stairs.  Elsa and bug snoozed most of the afternoon, weather was conducive to fleece bed snoozing, so they did. Lola on the otehr hand was busy playing plant climber. I have one that stands about 4 feet tall, plant is supported by a big wood "stake" in the middle. Somehow she got in between all the leaves, and was climbing that stake. I still don't know how she did it - not easy to get in the middle of all that "stuff", but she did.... Back and forth the plant swayed.... up and down went Lola....    Never ever a dull moment with Lola. Yupp: normalcy in MusketeerVille!

Have a great day everyone! I'm uncertain what will be here today. I had hoped to hike today, but well.... the weather isn't exactly favorable. If I can find a place with decent weather until about 2 or so I may take a chance and head to the hills... Eastern Washington looks like it may pan out. Guess we shall see what unfolds here today. I am meeting my son for Breffis this morning too. We are trying a new place this morning. The cafe we always went to finally did close their doors.... We both hope this new one will be as good. :-D

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN!! cat_pet_icon

Sounds like you had a great Sunday and welcoming committee
Good luck trying to get a hike in today between the rains ;-)
Enjoy your day Michelle whatever you do

I hope you found a dry place to hike today. The pictures from the falls are great. Hopefully the new place you had breakfast with your son was a good place. Crazy Lola. I would have liked to seen a video of her getting in the middle of that plant.

Hi Michelle. It sounds like an good Sunday hike yesterday. Great pictures of the rainbows - I used to fish those when I was a kid but nothing quite so large.

I hope you got another hike in today. After a drizzly start, it cleared up here and that big yellow thing even made a guest appearance. It's always nice to find a good breakfast cafe nearby.

Scritches to the fur gang from me. There was a lot of fleece snuggling here too.

Wow...those Falls are gorgeous. I bet they sound great, too! Too funny that you caught the Welcoming Committee off guard by showing up early! Good ole Lola...always keeping you guessing, isn't she? What a sweet, special, spirited girl she is!

Have a great evening, Michelle!!

Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting today. I hope you guys all had a great day. I did end up going on a hike, after Breffis with my son. My DS and I tried a new cafe today, as the old one finally did clsoe its doors. This place was booked as a pancake house, but they had all sorts of things. It actually was very good, so it looks like it will be our new breffis spot. It's close to where my son lives, which makes it easy for him to still get to work afterwards. Good food too! I went to eastern Washington today to hike - a spot called Eightmile lake, near Leavenworth, in the Stuart Mountain Range. Weather was awful getting there - nothing but rains.... pass was a mess too. I had hoped that it would clear by the time that I got to the trail, but NOPE! By the time I reached the lake the winds were blowing something fierce  , the rains were moving in over the mountains and into the lake area :o , and I was wet  , and it was just darn cold @-) . LMAO, yes, LMAO, and thank gawd for rain gear! Despite all that I had a great time. The lake is a gorgeous one, too bad that it was being rained on. HAHA. I think I did about 8.5 miles, maybe climbed 1700 feet. not too bad.... I had to be 3PM By the time I came back to the trail head, it had been a LONG day by then.... so I thought what the heck: hit up Starbucks there, got the biggest largest most caffeinated venti quad coffee I could to go, and hit the road. :-D ~O) ~O) ~O) Made it home wide awake and bushy tailed, and ready to wrap up what needed to be done tonight. The ~O) did help, as the drive home was a downpour too. It is a good thing I live in the PNW, and have webbed feet. An adventure today for sure. Glad I went. I will post the Picassa links in tomorrows condo.

Hi Pam - That I did! Oh yes on today too: rains EVERYWHERE!   .5 hour drive both ways, all of which was wet. Hike wasn't too bad, wet wise , until I got to the lake. It was gorgeous though, despite that.

MAUI! GF! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! OK on the secret. I will do thats. I swear! My bean has been gone ALL DAY!, and shut down the 'puter. so I needs to wait to see it.... I hope I still can. and I lUBS cheery cherries too! ~~ Elsa, Lil BIT PIT

Hi Wendy - THX on yesterday - it was a good one. Nicholas and I go there alot, but a much more abbreviated version for him. THX on the fish too - they have a small hatchery there, Nicholas loves to visit it. I did manage another hike today. Weatehr wasn't the bet, but the hike was good even still. Off to Leavenworth. NICE on your sun!!! Scritches have been dispensed!

Hi Amy - THX! I really do like this hike. Those falls are so nice, even better when the sun shines. I thought so too on the welcoming committee. Love it when I am the one upsetting the apple cart.

Hi Carla - well.... I fond a place, but not too sure on how dry it was.  THX on the pics, and yes on the new cafe - it was good, and I think we will start going to this one. I so know on that plant--- per the norm with her antics I was camera-less! Go figure on that one!
