Oh maybe! He seemed to stay flat last night from PMPS to +6 where his nadir is generally around +4. Maybe he's just switched to having a more active during the day (not complaining here! I'm home during the day and can test and am much more rested lol). And I mean if I squint at that low blue, it turns greenI'm thinking that's just the end of duration of his Lantus from 12 hours previous. He should get right on back to the lagoon with his AM shot.
Have a good day Susanne!
Thank you! Totally get formulas change, just didn't know how to read what I was reading lol. I have not spent time reading those ones you posted so I'll go through that - I probably just need to accept the kitties won't be on the same foodNeko used to eat the Wellness Chicken, then they changed the formula and made it higher phosphorus. Note that some of the manufacturers have changed formulas since 2017 which was when the catinfo document was published.
As Fed Carb % (as per Dr. Pierson) is what we use. For your reading pleasure, and from the Index in the Health Links forum:
- How to Calculate the Nutrient Content of Commercial Cat Foods
- Calculating % Calories from Carbohydrates written by FDMB member, Marje and Gracie
- Dr. Lisa's Cat Food Data Base Calculator - Type in the percentages of minimum protein, maximum fat, maximum carbs, and maximum phosphorus you're looking for. You also have the option to choose a specific cat food company. This tool will automatically list the cat foods from the Food Chart created by Lisa Pierson DVM list that meet your specifications.
Haha, true! Which is why I was trying to get them on the same food because I know they'll steal the other's...we've had to separate them at meals since we got them because of their competitive eating mentality lol.But you do know they will try what the other is eating.![]()
Sorry Susanne I just saw this, just got on.When looking at carbs in food, do we look at "As Fed Basis %" or "Dry Matter Basis %"? @Diane Tyler's Mom I feel like I've seen you comment on these diet things before but I couldn't find an answer.
In any case, I was looking up Wellness Complete Health Chicken Pate - Dr. Pierson's chart has it at 4% but the company has posted Dry Matter as 0.78 and As Fed as 0.19 (so basically nothing really either way). It also has kcal at the bottom that says carbs as 6.71 or 0.58%.

Just looking for help in reading and understandingMy civvie seems to like the Wellness Chicken Pate (and he didn't care for FF which is what Jax is eating) so I keep holding on to hope that both cats can be on the same food to simplify life a little. Wishful thinking I'm sure

I see Wendy already replied, to tell you the truth I get confused also, that's why I use Dr Pierson's food chart![]()
