Good afternoon,

So, I didn't get in last night until late; checked Shasta's BG and it was 112 at +7...sneaky little girl. I woke up this morning, poked/shot/fed/went back to bed; set the alarm for an hour, poked/went back to bed...had a snuggle bunny join me :razz: ; repeat two more times. Best Saturday morning in a long time...especially with the sound of rain hitting the window!

Before I left to run a few errands this morning, I jumped on FDMB to see if I could find some information about Pepcid AC (could remember if that was used for tummy troubles or constipation troubles) and as I was re-reading a few of my older posts I ran across something that Marje had written. We must have posted at about the same time and I never saw her post until today, but it had to do with carb % at shot time and +1 for Shasta. I laughed because I was just thinking the same thoughts that she had written several weeks ago and now I feel a little stupid that I didn't read it sooner. Here's my new plan for tonight...shot time, I'll feed 4% or 5%; +1, I'll feed 11% FF Florentine to help minimize the dive. Let's see if this helps/works!

Happy Caturday! ~Deborah & Shasta

AMPS=249 (11% FFF w/ pinch of 12% Merrick - .70 oz)
+1.10=282 (11% + 4% ~.50 oz)
+2.25=163 (4% snack)
+3.5=101 (2% snack)
+4=111
+6=156
+10=353 :shock:
PMPS=303 (4% FF - .60oz; only ate about .25oz)
+1=311 (added .25oz of 11% FFF to leftover 4% FF)
+2=193 (2% FF snack)
+3=73
+3.5=59 (2% FF snack)
+4=62
+5=81

Happy Weekend Girlz dancing_cat Very timely information about carb %'s to slow diving, thank you! Sounds like Shasta is feeling fine :thumbup yeay!

Re: 9/22 Shasta PMPS=303; +1=311; +2=193

You saw some blues today.
How wonderful!

I'd been meaning to ask you about what this different approach was that you were doing.
Hope you got lots of snuggles with Shasta.
Happy Caturday!

I don't know where in the heck those ugly pinks came from. I stuck to my plans: I fed 4% at shot time (she didn't eat much and I was in the shower so I couldn't harass her to eat more), so I didn't overdo the 11% at +1. Therefore, she dove to +2 and still falling. She just ate her 2% snack right before her +3 poke, so I don't think it had reached her BG yet. I will get a +3.5...just in case. She's been acting a bit strange in my opinion. Maybe it's just an optical illusion, but I swear her back legs are doing weird things. :?

update: she just crawled up my chest to get to the back of the couch. awesome! :lol:

Re: 9/22 Shasta PMPS=303; +1=311; +2=193; +3=73

Hi Rhiannon,

It has been suggested that I feel Shasta mid-carbs early in her cycle to try to reduce her drops, so that's what I started trying. Now, we're tweaking that idea to feeding her low carbs at shot time and introducing mid-carbs at +1 (which is typically her free fall dive time!) This way, maybe she won't have a gigantic food spike at +1, and possibly a smaller dive from +1 to +2.

After all of her pretty greens last weekend and this week, I started getting worried that she was dropping too low while I was at work. There were several days this week that she didn't eat any of her automatic feeder snacks and that just got me worrying. So, I started shooting on the Super Skinny side of .75u (it was probably more like a kind of fat .5u...thereby, depleting some of her shed (I think...hence the rising numbers over the past few days...and today's ugly pinks!)

And if this doesn't work, we'll try something different! :roll: :lol:

Hi Deborah - Looks like Shasta has made up for those ugly pinks - look at her go now! WOW. Quite the drop, it will be interesting to see what her +4 is. Good luck with the food plan. I will do that with Mannie on occasion too: fed a higher % carb t +1 if there is signs of a pending dive. Sounds like you feed at the front end of the cycle too. That really helped Mannie,a s he was initially quite the diver, sometimes till is.... It does work with him, most of the time. Hope it helps Shasta too.

Hope your day has been a good one!

Thanks Michelle,

I'm liking the little surf she's got going right now!! But I'm not sure if it's the food choices, the fact that I think I gave her a truer .75u shot tonight or a combo of both. I'll probably leave out a smidge of 2% tonight just in case she's still low and needs to eat something, as I'll be headed to bed, soon.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Caturday. Tomorrow is a work day for me (because I did absolutely none of my work today! whoops!)
