9/22 Monty: AMBG 106, +3.5 99, PMBG 95, OTJ trial day 14

So he's come up to 117 at +2. This is odd, it might be another night like last night where he comes down after 4 hours.

The only thing that changed yesterday and this morning is trying a new flavour of food, the protein is different but it is 0% carb. Would that impact his numbers?

Any advice? It would be a shame for him to fail this trial on day 14!

Not this morning, possibly yesterday but thst wouldn't explain why it's still rising now.

I'm going to stop giving him the new flavour for the time being.

Maybe it's coincidental but yesterday he was far hungrier than usual.

I just found them both like this <3

I would agree with extending the trial for a while longer. For a good sturdy remission there really should be no blues on the pre-shots...an occasional food bump mid cycle maybe, but not the pre-shots. If the remissions isn't a good strong one, you'll be back and it's more challenging the second time.

How adorable. Sometimes low blues pop up during an OTJ trial. As long as he brings his numbers down you are fine. It shows his pancreas is working. Happy Day 14! :):):):):):):):D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If he comes down again tonight I'm going to declare remission even with a few low blues (provided he drops to greens after). Even on a dose of one drop he dropped fast and having him on insulin at all is dangerous, that's why I started the trial. If it means relapse is more likely then so be it - I don't have a choice.

I'll extend the trial if he doesn't come back from blues tonight.

On August 22nd he dropped from blue to 36 on a dose of 0.1U. on September 7th he dropped to 56 from blue on a dose of one drop, I intervened both times to stop him falling.

Going to make sure he eats a snack at +8.

I have another theory about the high numbers from last night and this morning. Around AMBG and PMBG recently he's been super hungry so I fed him more and then he didn't eat around snack times because he was full up.

I've been stricter today and given him an appropriate amount to make sure he's hungry at +8

My thinking is that by feeding more at meal times yesterday he climbed higher just after eating because of the volume and his pancreas took longer to bring it down.

This made him less hungry for snacks and so didn't prompt his pancreas to lower BG before the next test, raising that too.

Does that theory sound reasonable?

Hi. I think your theory is a possibility. I also think some cats run a little higher naturally. I would continue to get a random test for at least the next month, every day or night a few hours after a meal. Fingers and paws crossed for a completely successful permanent remission. :D

PMBG 95, he did it! Wooohooo OTJ!

Since Monty seems to surf a little higher than average I'm going to test every 3 days for a month then test once a week for 2 months
