I passed out on the couch last night and didn't get up till very, very late. Blue was sleeping in Kasha's bed - he started this yesterday, don't know why, but he's sleeping in her bed and she's not thrilled about that. Nor am I. But what can I do? She was sleeping in my bed so I went and lay down with her till it was time to get up. She got up for breakfast and grazed on some FF. Before I left for tbp this AM, I was tearing apart tiny pieces of rotisserie chicken for Kasha and I felt something touch my calf... I looked down and saw nothing - just assumed it was a thread from my skirt or something, making me imagine things. Then I felt it again and looked down (now I thought it was a spider or something!) and saw the very tip of a little lion tail gently swish by my leg... Kasha knew I was getting chicken ready for her and she was at my side like a magnet. Those of you who experience this everyday with your kitties may not realize how huge a deal it is when the kitty who wouldn't eat on her own for weeks is actually waiting underfoot for some chicken!!!

I think she's feeling a bit off - the cerenia injection should still be helping, but she didn't eat as much chicken as usual. However, it's there for her to nibble on and there is another spoonful in the timed feeder for later (that was one was frozen).

Kasha story: Kasha used to be really aggressive. We would play fight all the time and she'd get really into attacking. For a while, if we were upstairs in the bedroom of the old apartment, she would attack and attack until I jumped on the bed and then she'd leave me alone. It was almost scary how aggressive she'd get... Then one day, she cornered me and I jumped to the safety of the bed. Except, this time she came after me - with that wild look in her eye... stalking me across the bed... LOL! That's when I decided we needed a "safe word" - or, in her case, a safe gesture to signal the play was over. Eventually, when I would touch her nose and say "easy" or something, she would know we were done playing.

Later, we had a house guest for quite a while (and more than once) - a crazy friend of the ex-BF, who would play aggressively with Kasha until she was tired out (and that took a LOT of playing at that time). I think he eventually just wore most of the aggressiveness out of her, because the last time he visited and started to play with her, she started trying to avoid him so he'd leave her alone!

That said - she hissed at the vet tech yesterday when she tried to reach into Kasha's carrier to remove a bandage on her leg (I later removed it when we got home) and today she hissed at Blue when he tried to crowd her out of her bed. I like when she's feisty.

Re: 9/22 Kasha AMPS 129

It's great to hear that Kasha is eating on her own terms -- even if it's spread out over a few hours.

I love your Kasha stories!!

Re: 9/22 Kasha AMPS 129

That was so cute that she was waiting for the chicken like that....that is a good sign, even if she couldn't eat it all....
Glad she is showing her feisty side! She must know you love it! :YMHUG:

Feisty is good but Kasha sounds like she was scary lol!
I hope she eats her chicken today

Re: 9/22 Kasha AMPS 129

I like the sound of Kasha's condo today! It sounds like she is doing a little better and it sounds like you are feeling a little less stressed this morning also. I know you were so happy to have her sitting next to you this morning eagerly anticipating her chicken. It is a biggie!!

Loved the Kasha story today! My Ralph was the same way...very feisty and could be so nasty, but has mellowed so much in the past few years.

Re: 9/22 Kasha AMPS 129

I'm with Deb. I like the sound of this condo too. For Kasha to show real interest again in food is just awesome. It's very normal for her to be a bit punky after the chemo. With Tori we always give Pepcid for 5 days after the chemo just to help offset any tummy issues and then if need be give an anti-emetic like the Cerenia.

I hope she continues to have a good day and that you do too. Try not to worry OK?

Re: 9/22 Kasha AMPS 129

Keep up the good work, Kasha! So glad you're enjoying eating something. That rotisserie chicken sounds really GOOD!! Will you come to the Full Harvest Moon party tomorrow? I'll cook something special just for you. We'll all make sure you have a good place to sit at the table and Mannie will pick you up in the car and take you home. And you might like a little dancing, too.

Lots of hugs,
Stu
