Warning - rant coming!

Got a VM from the vet. Said that with Hyde's high ILGF-1 (over 500) that it is most likely that she has Acromegaly and I should take her to a specialist vet for continued treatment - basically exactly what he said on Saturday in person. He also said that Jekyll's blood test came back perfectly with no indication as to why he was losing lots of weight. He was going to have them test for liver function and pancreatitis next - again, exactly what he said on Saturday!! He is a nice man but definitely not a diagnostician! The only bright spot is that now he will know for the next high dose cat!!

The fast drop last night could be another reason for the bounce. Come on down Hyde!

On the vet. :banghead::banghead::banghead: Anything over 92 for IGF-1 is a pointer to acromegaly, but the number above that doesn't mean anything in relation to the size of the tumor. I stuck with my same vet cause the IM vet she wanted me to see wouldn't know anything more than the folks here and I decided to save my money for treatment. I went straight to the IM vet at CSU, figured I'd contact the experts. Bummer on still no answers for Jekyll. :( Maybe he needs to see an IM vetty.

I've tried to keep that in mind with my vet. Tennie is the first Acro cat that she has seen. I have tried to remind myself that is is a learning experience for both of us.
So far she has just has taken a back seat and let me do what I need to do with him.

Hi Anne - looks like you're FINALLY starting to see some movement. If you don't continue to get blues/yellows, I think I would consider using R, just to keep her out of the reds/blacks. Several here, including Crystal & Suki, have capped the Lev and worked the tweeking with R - though Crystal is REALLY resistant.

:cool:If you can, I'd get a test again in an hour. Of course, you know the fast drop might cause another bounce. On the plus side, Hyde is really getting over those bounces quickly. :)

 now just stay there please Hyde. I would second Lu-Ann's suggestion about using the R insulin, it might just be the help you need to get Hyde in better numbers.
Hope you get some answers soon on Jekyll, hugs to you all :bighug:

That was quite a drop. Hyde, what is your rush? A nice gentle slide, like the one in the picture Auntie Rhiannon sent, would be much better.

Sending anti-bounce vines. I agree that it might be a good idea to take Jekyll to an IM. Unexplained weight loss is scary. :bighug:
