Clare woke up with hiccups this morning. Once she got a bit warmed up they went away. I hope she'll find a warmer place to sleep once it turns really cold here. The floor in the basement is carpeted and insulated; but even so we're built on a rock and the cold comes up through it. Downstairs is where the mice usually are, though, so Clare's dedication to her work wins out. ;-)

Aw on the hiccups...Trix used to get them, and my civvie Zen gets them too...as do I, and they give me such a headache! All of my guys huddle around the heating vents during the winter...I'm jealous that they're so small and can do that :lol: !!! Have a great day, Georgette!!

You mention she had hiccups. My Michael gets them also. What can you do for them?

Clare looks like she's on a green and blue roller coaster today! If you're going for a ride, Clare, you chose the right colors! :-D

If Clare insists on sleeping where it's a bit chilly, you could get her a pet bed that reflects her body heat. There are several styles, from the one in the link to a flat pad. I got one for Cinco when he was still an outdoor kitty, and I brought the bed into the house when he came in. He loved it! They don't cost a lot - I got his at Petsmart, but a lot of places have them. I got another for Sasha, who gets cold easily, and in the winter she practically lives in it.

No advice on the hiccups - I've never noticed any of my cats having them. I think it might freak me out a little! :o

Nice numbers for Clare today. I've never heard of a cat getting the hiccups before.

That's a great idea about the bed, Tricia. I've never noticed those before that reflect the cat's body heat. She might prefer a mat over a bed because she hunts for mice. I see there's a mat that works on the same principle. I might buy both because there's always a use for a warm spot in the winter around here!

This morning when Clare had the hiccups, I first thought that maybe she was going to vomit but that wasn't it. She always has a special sound when she's about to do that. I tried giving her some water (she often drinks from the faucet) but she didn't want any. She was purring pretty loudly which isn't normal for her. In the end she just laid on my shoulder when I went back to bed, the way she usually does in the morning, and I heard her breathing change from intermittent hiccups to smooth over about a two-minute period, and her purring went really soft, as she warmed up and calmed down.

Clare's looking good. I like how she's seeing some green every day now. :-D

My Buster (GA) used to get the hiccups but I didn't notice them associated with cold. Interesting. He really loved those Purr Pads that reflect the body heat.

We have two heated beds but so far, neither of the cats is using them. Maybe when it gets colder? Coral used one last winter but Clare hasn't used one yet.

Thanks for reminding me of those. I'll move one to the lower floor near the "mouse door" (Clare stations herself outside the utility room door) and see if she'll try it. I'll let you know how it goes!

Wow -- Clare really took a dive in mid-cycle tonight. She's always got something new to teach us.

Is this to be expected (the drop from 222 to 54 in 2 hours) or should we be thinking about possibly pulling up on the dose?

What do you think?

I'd stick to this dose until she goes under 50. The more time you can get her to spend in healing greens the better.
