Chester was a little high this morning, but at least I didn't have to give him HC last night and considering how high he was at pmps (391) he didn't do too badly. I gave him a tbsp of LC at abut +6 when he reached 107 primarily because it seemed he was dropping rather quickly (and I needed to go to bed).

Sticking with the 1.25 for now. He'll have food available today at +5 but I'm wondering when the 2nd compartment should be scheduled. The kitty with him today is a bit of a glutton.

Re: Autofeed Question 9/22 Chester's AMPS 275

Good morning Jaye
I think +8 or +9 is a good time to feed but not much later than that so you don't have a food spike number at ps time.

Re: 9/22 Chester's AMPS 275

+9 sounds great - that's what we do here too.

nice blues there too - maybe Chester can find them again today. have a good day today.

Re: 9/22 Chester's AMPS 275, PMPS 378

I wonder if I should be stressing out? I'm seeing a pattern (if two days can be considered a pattern). He's high at amps and pmps during the day, but I've been giving him food in the autofeeder 2X daily. The trouble is, I have to put plenty in them because his buddies are healthy eaters as well (I really don't like confining Chester w/o a friend...I think it's rough on his little gregarious spirit). Also, I have no clue when he's eating it. I mean, I know when the thingie opens...wish they made one that would close 2 hours before pre-shot. For all I know Chester ate right up until 20 minutes before, which is when I came home.

The evenings, though, when I can watch him, are pretty nice lately. Last night's 107 probably would have dropped further if I had let it, but gave 1 tbsp LC so that I could go to bed for awhile. So....I'm sticking with this dose (2.25) at least until the weekend to see what he's doing during the days on it.

Other suggestions?

Re: UGLY Numbers! 9/22 Chester's AMPS 275, PMPS 378,+3=377

What gives here? All I can think of is that he might have gotten into some HC food after dinner. How disappointing!

Re: ADVICE? 9/22 Chester's AMPS 275, PMPS 378,+3=377,+4.5=382

Okay, a 382? at +4.5? Wonder what's going on here? I'm certain it wasn't a fur shot tonight.

Do I sit this out or bump him tomorrow (I'd rather do it tomorrow night when I'm home to watch, though)?

Could it be that he reduced too fast, thus depleting his storage shed too quickly. Maybe my best dose was 1.5.

Any thoughts? Advice? If he's like this tomorrow I'm toying with the idea of not leaving a snack out for him.

the reductions were rather close together. see what happens tomorrow. if there's no improvement, i'd bump the dose up tomorrow night since you want to wait til then anyway.

you might want to start testing him about an hour after eating so you can get a feel for whether his numbers spike after eating. for instance, depending on where alex is in the cycle, i can count on a lc food spike from an eighth of a 5.5oz can (3-4% lc) of anywhere from 20 - 30 points to 50 or more. once you have a better idea of what kind of food spike he gets when, it may influence when you want to feed him.

Oh Jaye, sorry about Chester. They tease us, don't they? We think they are doing great and then they pull this stuff. Good advice from Jill. This sugar-dance is so hard, one step forward, two steps back. I'm thinking about you guys.

Thanks, folks. Wish I didn't have to work tomorrow. Guess I'll actually get some sleep tonight and test him around +7 or +8.
