Today thus far:
AMPS 195
+2 130 fed a little 8% mixed with LC
+3.75 48 fed a Tbs. 12% Merrick Thanksgiving Day Dinner
+5 50 Fed a tsp. 8% Merrick. Looks like a surf starting
+6 77 lunch time: Fed a combination of EVO 95% Chicken & Turkey (2%) and 8% Merrick (small amounts of each)
+9.5 86 lite snack of LC

Good Morning Everyone,

Stu slept most of the night, I believe. He didn't even eat much from his automat, but this morning cleaned up installments 1 and 2 of breakfast so far. Lb activity is good. We've been outside for a brief sniff of the air (35 degrees here this morning). We had a short play with "Big Bug". And now Mr. Cat wants to go out again. In 20 minutes or so we will try to give the despised Methimazole pill piece. Today I'll try wrapping it in a piece of cheddar. I hope the pill shooter comes today (it has been shipped).
The vet got the urine test results back from Antech Diagnostics (the C & S came back negative for infection) and faxed them to Hypurrcat. I will pick up my copy today. So I expect we'll be hearing one way or the other from Hypurrcat this week.

hey stu- you're getting the pill gun too, i hear... it's wonderful from a cat's eye view as well as a bean's...cuz the pill don't touch the tongue and leave that nasty taste behind!

here's an offering for the menu from the Adoptocats (i think it's a bribe so they can attend the party)...Annie-fannie left a very pudgy quail on the doorstep for the bean this morning...
I considered David Quackerfield, cuz that guy's so big he'd be the whole "duck-enchilada", but he's really a good communicator, so i've taken him off the "chosen prey" list.

Hoping with all my might for good news from Hypurrcat for you, guy!

"Thanks Binks. Roast quail sounds good, and of course the Adoptocats civvies can come to the party. Be sure to tell them. I'll let you know if I like the pill pusher. So far I'm not going near my pill in cheese. Nasty trick!

I hope you get your pill shooter. I can't imagine piling our cats .. you're doing awesome Ella, a very dedicated mommabean! Anyways, stus numbers look great this morning, I hope they continue that way for you!

Stu - are you hopping on the surf board or going diving?

I hope you get some new regarding the hyperT soon. Don't know if you ever saw posts regarding but both Tuscany and Merlot were hyperthyroid and both had the radioactive iodine treatment. They both did great with the procedure but Merlot did become mildly anemic after and gradually became underactive thyroid. He ended up having to take thyroid supplement the rest of his life - it stabilized his anemia and his thyroid values. Tuscany was only 9 at the time of her treatment. No problems after (though I'd have to look back and see when her kidney values started their very mild rise).

It was a cold morning here today also....I think in the low 40's but beautiful now.

I hope you get good news from Hypurrcats. Stu and I will have something in common. I had radio-active iodine about 16 years ago for hyperthyroidism but now I have hypothyroidism which is an easy fix so I just take a thyroid supplement for the rest of my life.

Stu how about a surfing now but a little higher than the 40's please. cat_pet_icon

Morning My dears!! Looks like Stu's shed is still working well even with last night's does crease!! He is really doing so great with the FD!!

Morning Ella,

It was pretty chilly here this morning too. High 30's brrrrrr. I never got a chance to use the pill shooter, although I did pick one up to have on hand. I can't wait to hear what you think of it. Or more importantly what Stu thinks of it. :smile:

I'm going away so it looks like Sara will miss the full moon party. She says she looks forward to what Stu has cooked up and will make up for it at the next party and eat twice as much. ;-)

and can't wait to chill with his friends again.

Good luck with the Hyppercat. I have kind of followed what has been
going on. Dd you know those treatments are available here in Montreal?

Hi again,

The pill shooter came and we will try it out tonight. Finally got a pill down his throat this morning (not the one in the cheese, which had gotten all mushy from the cheese).
50 at +5, so I think we're on a green surf. Fed him a little "pre lunch" of 8% Merrick and will test again at +6 (lunch time).

Later this afternoon I'll e mail Hypurrcat just to make sure that they got the fax from Stu's vet. Will pick up the paperwork at the vet's later.

p.s. to Joyce and Miriam: Thanks for your HyperT stories and encouragement. I hope Stu will be a candidate for the I-131. It will all depend on how bad his kidneys are now.

Nice numbers today for Stu! I am keeping my fingers crossed for good news from Hypurrcat. It was 35 here this morning too...brrrr!

Hi again, I think I need more practice with the pill shooter. If I could only get his mouth open it would help!! The pill piece is too small for the shooter and keeps falling out while we are struggling to get his mouth open. I'm not sure if he swallowed the pill this evening or not!!!
Anyway, he's had a great surf today and a good blue PMPS. I got my copy of the urinalysis report and to my unpracticed eye it looks good. The only thing that was not in the reference range is the Specific Gravity, which was 1.014 (ref. range is 1.015-1.060). The last time this was tested (on August 25th), it was 1.011, so even though it is "low", it has improved.
I decided not to e mail Hypurrcat today since they probably only got the faxed urinalysis results yesterday and Dr. Peterson may not have had a chance to evaluate Stu's records.

Hey Kitchen Kitties: Harvest pies seem to be on everyone's mind: Pumpkin pie, pigeon pie, quail pie, grouse pie. All would be good with catnip crust, don't you think? And of course we'll have to have some things from the grill and maybe some poached fish. Keep thinking!!

I'm not sure how you are trying to open Stu's mouth. If you position the pill shooter behind the canines, there's a gap in the teeth. If you insert the pill shooter there, he'll automatically open his mouth and you should be able to shoot the pill. If you're trying to force open his mouth and go in over the incisors, you won't have much luck.

Great day for Stu! Sorry the pill shooter takes some practice, but I bet before long you will be an expert. 35 is really cold already; I hope you got your sweaters out. :-D I hope you hear from Hypurrcat soon, too. Fingers crossed! :smile:

Hey, Stu, sorry I haven't been around much lately, but my bean has been soooo busy at work. I hardly ever see her, she leaves at 6:45 in the morning and doesn't get home until 8:30 at night and she's beat, so she doesn't do much on the puter lately. So, there's going to be another moon party soon and I'm going to be there! The menu sounds oh so good right now! I was thinking maybe punkin soup....my mum made some a while back and boy was it yummy! I went out and bought some fresh nutmeg nuts and that will make those pies and soups really tasty! How bout fried green tomatoes too???? Well, gotta run...mum sez she has to visit a few more condos before she heads off to bed...have a good night my frienz!!! Lubs you much!!!............Spot

what sienne told you is exactly how we had to pill homie.. also, we had to turn his pills sideways in the rubber cavity to get them to stay in

here's a sneaky thought...(and useless)...but how many pills can we get in stu's pies?

Thanks Celi. We're giving 1/4 of a small pill at a time. I don't even think that turning it sideways will help!! How many in a pie? That would be a good guessing game for the Full Moon Harvest Ball!
