How’s LM this morning? Did you get any sleep?

Very little sleep. Not any better. Even syringe feeding is tough. He is drooling all over the place. We are actually sitting at vet waiting to be worked in. He did try and desire to drink water this morning not sure he got much He mostly hovered over the fountain.

100ml more of fluid. Getting transdermal mirtazipine to take home. They are doing a blood panel that will also check for thyroid issues but won't get results till Monday or Tuesday. Here's hoping he will start eating again cause this is close to maxing out my care credit I'm a broke girl

Yep that is about right. Since we got home he drank tons of water and has eaten two small bits of food on his own. No vomiting no drooling no syringe feeding. He was like oh ok mom has spent 1k in last two days I guess I should get better now. I know we aren't out of woods yet and we needed the bloodwork to rule some stuff out but geez buddy....

No they wouldn't give....I can always try mine just may not be effective since it's expired.

General question I gave a half of a zyrtec yesterday trying to help appetite. Should i wait to give the mirtazaine?

You got mirtazapine instead of mirataz? That’s too bad. The one cat I gave it to became very agitated and vocal. The ointment, Mirataz is much gentler. What was the reason they refused an RX for ondansetron? I bet because they won’t make money on it since they don’t have it. That makes me very angry.

Mirtazapine can cause serotonin syndrome. Use the smallest dose. It won’t work if the nausea is not under control.

Hold off on the mirt if he’s eating.

Ok so this box says mirataz (mirtazapine transdermal ointment) does that make it better? To be honest I thought they were one in the same.

They said they don't like giving ondansetron they feel cerenia is better.

Thank goodness. The ointment is mirataz on ok to give. It’s the pill that scares me. Rereading g the symptoms of setatonin syndrome for you I am sure my cat had it.

If Mirataz does not work it means he’s still nauseous. If it works and he returns to normal even gradually my bet is on mild pancreatitis and you don’t need more testing or labs since you had that done so recently. You would not do anything more than you are for treating pancreatitis and if he’s recovered any test for it would be normal. It only is positive when active.

He hasn't gotten the mirataz and ate a little twice so far and drank water no vomiting or drooling. It's like a switch flipped when we got home from vet. They've already taken blood and will run tests also doing a thyroid test. I'll know Monday or Tuesday. If it is like you said nothing will show and this has been one long weekend. At least I have some cerenia and mirataz on hand if needed.

I hope you're right that he's turning around, and I hope he continues to eat and feel better. Sending good thoughts :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Once you open mirataz it’s not good for a long time so give it only if needed. I’m so glad the switch flipped. Huge anti jinx.
I went ahead and just gave he is being a super difficult. He isn't drooling anymore but I think the cerenia is causing him so much drowsy and some woozyness that it causes him to not want to eat. It's like pulling teeth to get him to lick a little off a spoon

ETA...I have 30 days to use unless anyone knows if refrigeration can prolong it's life haha

Don’t refrigerate it. How’s he tonight?
I won't. He is being stubborn finally age and drank water just a bit ago. Offering again in about 20. I think the cerenia is causing some of symptoms. He seemed more perked up when we got home from vet cerenia had been wearing off. Gave another dose and he's been super difficult...sleepy not wanting to eat again

Cerenia caused Bell to drool a whole lot, if you are seeing LM drool after giving the pill. This was due to bitterness. Elise recommended packing it in gel caps (size 4 or 5), which solved that issue for Bell. Not sure if that is what is causing Little Man to drool, but wanted to throw that out there.
