Ivy has had decreased appetite since Tuesday when she was sedated for X-rays of her healing broken leg.
She vomited later Tuesday & has struggled with appetite since.

I’ve given Cerenia 2X & then mirtazapine to stimulate appetite, yesterday.
She ate some on her own last night, then I had to resume small snacks by syringe feeding later in the night to get her food in.
She’s also had yucky loose stools the past 2 days. o_O The sedation really messed with her system.

This morning she was vocalizing, asking for food before I was out of bed. That’s the mirtazapine at work.
We are at +1 and her BG is dropping already so that’s a good sign I hope, as she’s been in higher bgs since all of this began a few days ago.

Hoping she slides down gently today and eats on her own resuming her normal appetite.
Wishing all of you a safe and happy day. :cat:

Have a good day Staci!

Sometimes it just takes them a little time to get back into food. If she still has loose poops, she may have a bit of an upset stomach, just without the nausea. See how she does today!!

I agree Deb. Ivy had sedation 4 x this year. A dental procedure, her broken leg surgery and 2 rounds of X-rays.
3 out of 4 x she had a reduced appetite, nausea and of course the related GI upset along with it.
Hoping for no more sedation. She’s clearly sensitive to it all.
Thanks for checking in. Have a good day :bighug:

+2 dropped to 240 and dropping on Libre from Amps 400. Looks like the depot of 3 units is back in effect for Ivy (after the 1/2 dose for sedation on Tuesday).

Will probiotic help? The awful GI stuff always takes a bit of time to get re-regulated.
But she is trying to get rid of bad stuff out of her system!
Ooh great idea. Wish I thought of that earlier. Will give with dinner.

I usually give that 1x daily, one week on one week off, per my vet. Was due to begin tomorrow but will give tonight. Thanks, Kit!! :bighug:

+5 70 on Libre.

She’s working this dose today. And she’s sleeping in her bed.
But doesn’t want food so I’m syringe feeding tsp (12.5% lamb diet/snacks) so she doesn’t drop too low.
I guess the depot has reset and in play.

Her appetite is still/not interested in food. I’m thinking another 2nd round of Mirtazapine may be a good idea.
Not sure if she needs the Cerenia again. Have given 2 doses of that.

This is 3rd day 3 since her sedation at the vet on Tuesday.

What do you think? @allicatmeow @tiffmaxee @Wendy&Neko

I would do the Mirtazapine at your 24hr mark and skip the Cerenia. See how she does and if she vomits, then give Cerenia. You don't want the Cerenia continuing to counteract the Mirtazapine if she is one of the cats that gets appetite affected.

You're doing great. Stick with it. She's getting better each cycle. :bighug:

Ok sounds good. Will try that plan!! She is improving but not there just yet. Thanks Alli :bighug:

Ivy decided to work her dose today and dipped to 70s on her Libre. And now at pmps she’s back up High, around 400.

Gave mirtazapine 2 hours ago since she was not quite eating great mid day today. I hope by tomorrow she will be feeling better and no more effects of the sedation left in her system.
Added probiotic to help with yucky poops. Maybe that will help.

Ivy ate her dinner well. Maybe the 1/2 dose of mirtazipine helped. And another round of very soft gooey poop. Yuck. Hope this gets better soon.

She’s been pretty lazy just sleeping in her bed all day.
Low energy.
Hope tonight cycle is uneventful and gentle on both of us.
Hope everyone has a peaceful night.
