Hello all who visit,
~O) ~O)
manipulated food yesterday and gave the lower carb options to get her pmps lower which worked but didnt progress past that.
It's harder to get her to eat the 2% on a regular basis.
had to place orders for supplies. didn't realize I was almost out of strips nailbite_smile except for the emergency kit box. I think I better
go find even more than I ordered last night. Hate to find that out the hard way and have to pay 5x more here in town.

Outdoor kitty (Diamond) killed a chipmunk yesterday and left it on back porch. Meant to pick it up and forgot and droolers ran off with it.
We don't want them to have dead kritters. I think Rusty chased a chipmunk yesterday and made it run all the way here.

It was great to hear Donna's mother is cancer free yesterday. Healing and prayers for all here in LL.

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103

Blue for AMPS? It will be green real quick, if not already.

Bummer on the chipmunk. Our drooler won't bother something if it is already dead. He likes the "thrill of the kill". Have a great day Rhiannon!

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103

Morning Rhiannon ~O)
You guys have some great numbers!

Dunno what food you guys use, but wanted to mention we use the chicken variety of Blue Buffalo Wilderness, which is supposed to be between 1 and 2% carbs. Our guys love it.
I mail order it b/c it’s cheaper that way and the UPS guy gets to carry it, not me  They do have other flavors, duck, a fish one of some sort, and I think turkey.

Ahh chipmunk gifts :-D It’s because they love you so

Have a great day!

This is too funny... GO RUSTY! bumme ron the droolers though.

Morning Rhiannon ~O) ~O) ~O) What a nice start for Shadow. Good luck with the fuds. Mannie isn't a big 2^ fan either. I'd get maybe two meals out of it and then he was so done. Must not have alot of flavor.... :?

Enjoy your morning! Good luck too with the supplies.... hear you on that one, for sure.

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103

Hi Rhiannon and Shadow,

Junior might be out of snuggling mode now, ready to go surfing!!!

Shadow might like some company.
and Junior loves to watch the Chippies, but he is strictly indoors, both boys are for their safety, we live in the mountains, and many wild creatures around that might want my little guy! probably not Sparky though, he is too big!

enjoy your morning, good luck shopping.

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103

Hi guys .. nice low blue to start the day! I am sure green is right around the corner .. poor chipmunk .. probably never even saw it coming  I'm glad we aren't left "treats" like that on our porch! Have a great day!

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103 +2~80 +4~91

Bet that felt wonderful!

I am jealous of your nap!

enjoy the rest of the day....

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103 +2~80 +4~91

Oh Rhiannon, look at Shadow's beautiful day already.

How nice that you got to sleep a little more this morning.

Yuck on the chipmunk. Tux was an outdoor kitty, when he adopted me..he brought his trophies up onto the porch and tried to bring them in.....Ewwwwww!

Have a nice day, Rhiannon

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103 +2~80 +4~91

   What more is there to say?!

My GA Cleo used to cat chipmunks and bring them in the house, alive. One took up residence in the springs of the sofa. I never knew until I move the sofa and a pile of Cleo's food fell out! Not oly did she not get the chippy, but lost her dinner as well!

Re: 9/20 Shadow 103 +2~80 +4~91

Nice surf for Shadow today. Good luck with the food experimentation.

One of my cats caught a mouse that had gotten in the house and brought it to me. I thought it was dead until he put it down in front of me and it jumped up and started running around. Poor little mouse was scared to death and running in circles. Luckily for me, it ran into the covered litter box and I was able to grab a binder and cover the opening and take it outside. Of course the cat wasn't happy.

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86

okay.
I'm ready for my punishment. I'm sure it's a lot more than wet noodles.

Tonite I suddenly realized I had no strips. :o
I just bought some online last night and I thought I had one box of them sitting in my hypo kit. Turns out it was a box of lancets instead.
What?
I went ahead and shot and ran to the store lickity split to buy strips but knew I would be raped by the prices. Worse than I thought.
$126 plus tax for 100 strips. They were out of the 50 box. Just as I was about to relent....
It quickly dawned on me that meters were cheap and I hadn't bought a back up meter yet anyway so I started pricing those.
The only one I recognized as being okay was the Bayer Contour ( next) . I knew to avoid anything with Tru in it and I don't trust
kroger brand.
Ran in the door and tested her asap to confirm that I hadn't shot a low number ( for shadow that is) and was happy to see that I hadn't.
so I spent $36 but only have 25 strips.
I'll be going to santa fe to get more on saturday.
Geez.....
What a moron I am!!! I can't believe that I mistook a box of lancets for strips.
I'm so thankful it wasn't truly an emergency.
Everyone, check your supplies.
I don't know how to denote this on my subject line.

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86

Glad it wasn't an emergency! Lucky lady! :-D

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86

What an exciting day: the strips adventure; the chipmunk; the foods dilemma. Good thing you got in a nap!
Nice numbers for Shadow. She's lookin' great.

Enjoy the evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86

Bummer on the strips but it's great that you were able to find a semi affordable solution until you can get some more. I had a similar situation happen to me lately and now I buy strips in bigger quantities. It's crazy how the strips are worth their weight in gold to us:)

Nice numbers Shadow!

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86 +3~73

I've had strips delayed in the mail. I grumbled all the way to Walgreens knowing I'd pay through the nose.

Re: 9/20 Shadow after shot .5~86 +3~73

I just bought about 300 strips on ebay for my accu-chek at 40cents each.

Looks like the bayer contour next isn't any cheaper than the accu-chek.... probably even higher but it will just be my backup.

I had meant to get the cheaper one everyone likes at walmart but i'm not getting a third one. @-)

Hey, Rhiannon -

Nice day for Shadow! Hope your strips come in without you having to buy the more expensive ones. Last time, I double-ordered so I could build up some inventory!

I order Wellness, too. Like Donna said, the UPS guy can carry it, not me, plus I don't have to use my gas (that is approaching $4/gal) to get it. AND - it's cheaper online than in the store. WIN - WIN - WIN!!!

Have a wonderful night -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

We actually have a pet food store in Los Alamos.
They stock most of everything we have, wellness, merrick, evo, blue buffalo, tikicat , several raw types and then fancy feast and friskies are at the grocery store.
And oddly enough, they are competitive on the price. I can't find the tikicat any cheaper, altho' shadow is tired of it already.
So now I'm just rotating all of it because she's more willing to eat the better foods if they aren't one meal after another.
Guess I'm lucky that she's at least willing to do the rotation.

And all the ones they don't have here, I found at Petco in santa fe.

Dunno what food you guys use, but wanted to mention we use the chicken variety of Blue Buffalo Wilderness, which is supposed to be between 1 and 2% carbs. Our guys love it.

I have a cat who won't eat most moist foods. I have him on young again zero carb dry, which is what I initially got him OTJ with, but have found lately that he will graze throughout the day on the blue wilderness chicken (moist) if I put some parmesan on it. I don't know what the % carbs is, and they're on the "uncooperative" list as far as revealing what goes in it. I have some misgivings about this one because ingredient #3 on the label is "potato" which is high starch & high glycemic index, and IMHO has no business being in cat food... Total of ingredients in the guaranteed analysis from the can comes out to 98.5, which would leave 1.5% for carbs. That works out to about 6% carbs on a dry matter basis given a moisture of 78% if I'm doing my math right. That's still acceptable for a diabetic cat, I think, and OK to leave out for free feeding as I've done with the zero carb. But it contrasts with the 1-2% I'm seeing listed earlier on the board. Is the discrepancy here that the poster isn't converting to the dry matter basis, or what??? Does anybody else have direct info on the matter???

I keep coming back to the potato at #3 on the list... How is that consistent with even 6% carbs on a dry matter basis?! Is there a reason they are "uncooperative"??!!

Thanks in advance.
