Ok so overnight some of the little bits of food he kept down some he did not. Vet at 10 am. Although I'm mad. Called my regular they can't or won't squeeze him in told me to go to emergency. I called previous vet that diagnosed him. Good vet just not great with allowing me to be in charge of insulin and testing so very little support...for tests and such I'll take it.

I would have the vet test for pancreatitis just in case. It’s so common for kitties these days. Sending positive vines. Let us know what he says. :bighug:

Just got home. We got injection of cerenia plus 8 more doses to keep as needed.

Older dr so he was super impressed by all my data and knowledge...that thanks goes to all of you:bighug:

No fever and with his bg coming down this morning he didn't want to do testing for pancreatitis...we are treating this as a random maybe he licked something for now. If it continues and doesn't resolve we will do more.

Not sure how I managed to put my answer in your quote @tiffmaxee :p

He seems irritated since we got home I'm giving meds a little time to work then I'll see if he wants to eat. Hoping between antinausea and subq fluids it will help perk him up and cause him to be hungry

That’s exactly how you would treat if it is pancreatitis. Your vet is spot on I think. If needed you could give 1/2 a regular strength Zyrtec as an appetite stimulant now that you have cerenia on board. Just give him small amounts often as if he eats a lot at one time it could make him nauseous and not keep the food down. :bighug:

Just offered a little food and he still not interested it's been about 1.5 hours since injection and fluids.

I do have a generic zyrtec from sams club. 10 mg of cetirizine hydrochloride. It says compare to zyrtec active ingredient. Half a tablet not too much? He is now down to 10.13 lbs. So def lost weight since checkup in May and also since I last weighed him about a month ago.

I give 1/2 to Mocha for skin allergies and she weighs about 9 pounds per my vet. I have also used it as an appetite stimulant in the past .
Good enough for me! I mean he's pretty crabby already what's me shoving a pill down his throat at this point. Wish me luck he may only be 10 lbs instead of 18 now but his paws and claws still say 1/2 mainecoon:blackeye:

8 mg of Cerenia will make him sleepy for sure but it is effective for anti-nausea. Not sure if this will work but if my cat isn't eating for a while I puree his food in blender with a little water and syringe feed him. this helps when he goes lime and I've got to get LC/MC food in him to keep from going HYPO.

Finally he ate the entire 1/2 tsp of raw with some water added..will try more in awhile taking it slow. All day it's nothing or just two licks so yay!

Ok so we are finally under 100 again. He is still not super interested in food. He is eating a little bit but it takes a lot of coaxing. Hoping it will get better overnight and by morning.

He may need both cerenia and tge appetite stimulant for at least a few days. If Zyrtec doesn’t work you can get mirataz that you rub on his inner ear once a day but I would give the cerenia and Zyrtec a chance first. That you need to get from your vet or a pet pharmacy or even chewy.

How often can I give the zyrtec?

It may be because the cerenia isn’t working so well for nausea but is helping prevent vomiting. When Chai got sick neither mirataz or cyproheptadine worked until she was given ondansetron every 6-8 hours. I thought I’d give ondansetron every 12 hours since she didn’t eat over night but she needed it at night too. She was getting both cerenia and ondansetron and then just ondansetron as she only vomited a few times and that ended.

I was thinking same thing he squints his eyes and turns away from food when I offer. I just used syringe and gave about 1/2 tsp food plus 1 tsp water. It's k/d but raw is too hard to syringe.

My ondansetron are individually wrapped as well. I don’t think it would do anything bad but it might not work due to losing potency.

Just ran to store got some turkey and chicken baby food. Just gave about 1/2 tsp with water.

I'll call vet in morning and see if we can get some ondansetron if not I'll give mine a try. Hoping if I can get more food in him the nausea will subside a bit and make him more hungry

I saw this in my Email I'm but don't see where you posted it on any of your post
That's great news he ate more

Finally he ate the entire 1/2 tsp of raw with some water added..will try more in awhile taking it slow. All day it's nothing or just two licks so yay

It's ok he stopped again so we moved to baby food and the syringe. Hoping it will get him over the hump
