So anyone who reads my posts knows I'm terrified of both high and low numbers. High I'm always afraid of organ damage/failure, Low I'm concerned I'm going to have to frantically try to save him.
I know some of you have said I can shoot as low as 50 and you guys most certainly have nerves of steel. I've now done 2 158 and a 156 injection something I'd have been too terrified to do before, yesterday I even took a walk on the wild side and shot him at 124. 79 just kind of worries me. Though I know the lows are good for him I no longer have the highs to take into consideration. For instance I've had variances of almost 400 points before - lately it really hasn't even hit a variance of 200 so that's where I lose the confidence. While I'm thrilled to have not been seeing those 300 and 400's as before (500's were BRUTAL) I can no longer assure myself that he's guaranteed to rise back up. 400 point variance I could say that, lately with the 100-200 point variance I can't with any confidence say or assume that.
I do apologize for the repetition but what can I say it's scary to have his life in my hands like this, and no one wants to be responsible for the demise of a cat who will still purr after (and during) up to 10 tests per day and whose still happy to see you and forgives you. Was smart enough to check notify me of responses today so I would greatly appreciate any input!

Are you going to be around? Because this is totally doable if you're
at home
have high carb food, in case
have plenty of strips for testing
have low carb food.

I was you 3 weeks ago. After the first 1 or 2 times, you get to be fine with this.
Don't be scared, hon.

My issue is all high carb food has been thrown out the door. He's strictly on pate which he switched to wonderfully but seems less enthusiast with it I think he's getting bored with the flavors and needs a good variety, hopefully. So all I've got is his regular pate and the things to save him if he dips too low. Will be checking in on him again shortly to see if he's climbed any, he's been surprisingly steady lately he had been quite erratic. Kitties truly do always like to leave you guessing.

So just test him every 20 - 30 minutes to start.
If he dips, give him some low carb food; around 2 teaspoons. Don't feed him too much, cos you might want him to eat more later.
If he keeps dipping, give him some medium carb, which you'll make by mixing 2 teaspoons of LC with a couple of drops of honey or karo or maple syrup.
Then test again after half an hour.

Don't give him anything high carb unless he gets in the 40s
Keep him coasting in good numbers by engineering his food.

Best wishes for good numbers!

Lovely - just keep him coasting around those numbers as long as possible, and his body will get used to the nice, healing numbers.
You will get to be more comfortable too!

Best wishes for a nice cycle!

Good job, Sarah! I don't blame you for being cautious. You did great! Let's hope for a nice, easy surf for this evening...

Hi Sarah--
I just stumbled upon this post. How is Jerry doing? I note you shot a 79 on the 20th, but don't see any SS updates since..? I hope I'm not being pushy, but I want to make sure all is well :-D

I'm very pleased with his progress. Pushed my bravery limits a bit and have gotten good results. Sorry for the delay on the spreadsheet my husband and I have our 1st (yes 1st) anniversary coming up on the 30th so we've been trying to figure out fun stuff around the happy cat so we've been doing our homework just been bad at posting. We can't go anywhere without thinking of him we were in a corn maze with catnip smack dab in the middle!
