Simon has not seen a green number in a few days and I am wondering if it could have been the anti-histimine. He has been on it for 8 days so I am not giving it to him now since I wasn't sure how long he can take it. Is there a guideline for giving an anti-histimine and what the duration it should be given? He is still scratching some but seems to be in good spirits. We have a vet visit in a few weeks. Woke to the sounds of Cleo throwing up this morning. Great alarm clock! I gave her a pepcid and hope that helps. I'm looking forward to the long weekend and am going to try and relax a little. Work is going to be crazy today so I'm not sure I can get home at lunch to test Simon and feed him. I'll leave the automatic feeder on but he still prefers the human bean feeding him.

Have a fantastic Friday!!!

Glad that Simon is feeling in good spirits. :-D Hope Cleo's tummy feels better soon.

Have a great day :-D :-D :-D

Re: 9/2 Simon AMPS 103

Hi Georgia, nice AMPS for Simon and almost a green! I'm not sure about how long for the antihistamine, but eight days does seem a fair length of time. Maggie also likes the waitress service vs the auto feeder. In fact, she prefers service in bed! Nice to hear that Simon is in good spirits and hope the pepcid helps Cleo's tummy. I hope work isn't too stressful today, and yay for a long weekend to relax.

Re: 9/2 Simon AMPS 103

Oooh I hate the vomit wake up calls. I hope the pepcid soothes her tummy.

Did you get the link to consult with cornell? They talk to owners and you could get advice on staph or his ears. Did the vet call you back to say why she didn't investigate further or why she thinks its staph?

I don't have the answer on the antihistamine unfortunately. I think you got your answer this morning on whether it affects his BG. Is he ever sensitive.

Re: 9/2 Simon AMPS 103

I don't know how long it takes for an antihistamine to start showing results. I think you're best advised to call your vet and ask how long Simon should be on the med. People take allergy meds for extended periods but I wouldn't want to generalized to cats. One thought... The lower AMPS may be an indication that the allergic reaction is clearing.

Re: 9/2 Simon AMPS 103

Sienne, I hope the allergic reaction is getting better but I'll know more over the weekend when I spend more time with Simon.

Karrie, I haven't contacted Cornell because I wanted to go in one more time to Simon's vet to hear what he has to say. I did call to find out why he thought it was staph but he is on vacation. I have an appointment in a few weeks and if Simon's ears are still bothering him, I'm going to ask the vet to do a culture for staph before i agree to the convenia.

Re: 9/2 Simon AMPS 103

Ahhh good point. I wonder how much the cornell consult will be. I may go that route with Henry depending on his vet appt on Tuesday. I'll post a video on loose lips today about him just to share. I'm looking at xrays of his hind end and spine. Based on the results I would want a second opinion about treatment.

His numbers are looking very nice today, Georgia. I hope he does really well over the weekend and you can get him off the anti histamine.

I also hope you have a relaxing weekend...you deserve it. And Cleo...no more pukus!
