WCR: well last night was the first night of not using the autofeeder because of the possible allergic reaction .. it went well, had all the bowls pre filled and was able to just pull them out when the alarm went off .. mocha didn't seem to mind since she still got her meals on time ... Yesterday she only continued to climb upwards so we will see what today brings .. I think it is supposed to be kinda stormy here but not sure ...

Re: 9/2 mocha amps 96

good luck with the bowls, I hope not using the plastic clears things up for the kitties.
Now Mocha, that is a beautiful number this morning

Re: 9/2 mocha amps 96

Morning Devon and Mocha...nice AMPS...guess you will be joining Shadow down here for a surfing day...sun & surf!
jut wondering...have you tried to clip off the little ends of her hind nails Devon? That might make them duller so if she scratches she won't do too much more damage.
Shadow had a bad reaction to some food awhile back and he ripped his neck pretty raw. That is when I put gauze and that self-stick bandage on...(SyrVet syrflex cohesiv flexible bandage http://www.discountdogstuff.com/product ... e-Bandages) I found it at Petsmart in the dog section. That bandage really did the trick since he couldn't scratch anymore. Raja reaction to the food left her back itchy and the fact that she didn't scratch there...well, couldn't scratch with her hind legs to that area left her in much better shape than Shadow. Shadow opened the sides of his neck pretty badly but once I was able to bandage the neck, the very slow healing could begin. It was a nightmare though. If you could cover the neck maybe she wouldn't be able to scratch her chin.
I know what you are going through though...very upsetting and very tedious...

Hey Mocha, You're amps are terrific! Are you going surfing at Shadow's and Raja's today? See you there. Hope your neck allergy clears up!

Re: 9/2 mocha amps 96 +1 87

well I am going to feed her a little LC at this +1. I don't normally feed at +1 but I'm willing to try anything ...

Pat, yes, we did clip her nails about two weeks ago and then we did them again the other night, just in case .. the thing with her neck is there are only a few tiny scabs, about the size of maybe the end of a pen? Bigger then a pin or needle, but not much bigger then that. She only has a few scabs and actually most of them have come off now .. but her skin is very red .. theres no evidence of a rash on the skin either .. it's just red .. I know she has licked off some of her fur in that area because it's much thinner .. we don't know if she is licking off the fur cause her skin is irritated, or if she was constantly licking in that area because we were using Vitamin E oil to help ease the itchyness and it was sticky and she didn't like it in her fur .. no where else on her whole entire body does she have red skin like that ... I suppose we could look for that bandage stuff though I'm not sure she would like it around her neck ...

on the other hand, that stuff looks EXACTLY like the stuff they wrapped peter's arm up in when he sprung a leak after a blood draw a week or two ago .. when he asked for it last week (since it didn't pull on his skin like their normal bandages do) they told him they use that very sparingly, mainly for elder patients who have thin blood ... maybe Ill show peter that bandage and see if he wants to go buy a roll for himself!

Wow, what a start to the day.

I thought of Pat when I read about the skin problems as I knew she went through this with her kitties. See she has checked in with you. Hope you figure it out soon.

Re: 9/2 mocha amps 96 +1 87

Hi, Devon.. I have been droppin thru.. just havnt commented lately.. Mocha is SURE making progress, how thrilled you must be.. something real special appears to be happening! Baby continues to keep her eyes wide open for Mocha at The Falls

Re: 9/2 mocha amps 96 +1 87 +2 96

Yes...that is exactly like the stuff they put on your arm after blood donations! Petsmart has it in different widths too...it really stays in place...I loved using it and was thrilled to find it! Shadow didn't LIKE wearing his ubangi collar at all! But I had no other choice in order to keep the ointment on his skin. He was constantly licking and scratching and his neck was disgusting! SOOO depressing! what a nightmare that was...but I am so glad it is over with...hope that Mocha's neck will not get worse...sounds as if it's not as bad as his was.
Oh, and I bought what looked that this stuff at Walmart but it was not the same..so back I went to Petsmart...the Walmart stuff didn't stick to itself like the other brand did....

Looking good so far Mocha!! Hope you guys are able to figure out what's causing that darn allergy..hopefully feeding out of another dish besides the feeder will be the solution and you won't have to look for another source.

What gorgeous number for Mocha!!!!--
Devon, You know Moonie had that feline Acne for months & months, scabs, pimples, irritations-
We washed her chin & neck with Hibiclens antibacterial antiseptic soap(few drops on a clean cloth) then wash it off, then we
used what vet gave us oxydex, which is antimicrobial, and it REALLY helped!!
That Hibiclens is good stuff--OTC!

thanks guys .. she did not eat out of her plastic dish last night .. I know in my mind overnight would not have cured her, but I couldn't help but wishing that this morning her neck would look a lot better .. it doesn't and Im scared that it won't get better without her going to the vet, even if we keep the plastic from her ..

roni, thank you for your advice .. did moonie have the red skin that I have described? I know a lot of people are asking if it is feline acne, which all the pictures I have seen of that online are small black bumps on her chin area .. this is quite lower, at the base of her throat, near the start of her chest and I don't see anything other then just red skin. Where did you find the Hibiclens? Do you think it would work as well, without using the oxydex yoru vet gave you?

what a great day for Mocha  I hope you figure out the skin issues. Emma occasionally gets a little something right near her mouth, and I've often thought it's her plastic water dish. She won't drink out of anything else - I've tried every other type of dish, and she just won't do it. She goes and drinks out of the dogs plastic dish when I take hers away. Anyway, she doesn't go after the spot - it turns red, scabs over and falls off. And she does NOT like me to get anywhere near it when she has it. Hope you can find something that will help without having to spend a small fortune at the vet!

Huh, I know I posted earlier! Lost in cyberspace I guess. Anyway, great surf for Mocha today. In the Health post someone recommended L-lysine you can get it at most drugstores in the vitamin/ supplements section. I wonder who ended up with that info?

ann I caught your post, not sure where it went though! probably the same place my updated pmps numbers went! Anyways, tonight we bought some pills at wal mart, chlortabs and we are going to see if that helps. We also ordered some wash off of amazon someone else recommended. Because of her steep drop tonight she is eating MC w/ HC gravy on it right now, and I will also be getting up and putting out her stainless steel bowls at meal time again ..
