We had two very active cycles. I was quite surprised when Max went done to 55 last night. I fully expected him to be higher. I have to keep reminding my self to expect the unexpected. This is one very tired bean this morning.

Prayers and vines to all kitties and beans in need this morning.

Looks like a good run of greens yesterday, hopefully the trend will continue once the bounce clears.

It's now looking like it's a mini bounce and we may see blue with the next test and back to business, Darin.

If Max slides down all the day towards PMPS, I wonder if you might try to snack experiment to avoid a dive early in the beginning of the next cycle?

Hi Jen, when are you thinking I should try the snack experiment? I'm already feeding him at ps, +1, and 1+or3

Max is coming down some so we shall see what he does. I'm wondering if he will tread blue or head down for a touch of high green. Although he could also head up like he did a few days ago when he had mini bounces for both the a.m. and p.m. cycles.

One question I do have is when it is okay to call it a night. For example, last night he was still under 70 at +8 but I took my chances and went to bed. I did leave him with a little lc. I used to not feel comfortable until he was at least over 70 but then I might not get any sleep at night. Ideas welcome.

Looks like Max and China are both having little mini-bounces after their dips into the lagoon last night....now for the fun question...where will they be at PMPS? 400 or 40?? Only the Shadow knows for sure!!....LOL

My general rule on going to bed after a drop below 50 is this. Once China's at least 60, I stop feeding and test twice more 30 minutes apart...if she's still in the 60's or rising, I'll test once more an hour later, so I test 3 times after the last time I have to feed

My cell phone alarm and I are well acquainted ...I've even gone through all the available ring tones to find the most annoying to make sure it wakes me up if I'm trying to sneak in a nap

OK now Max...both you and China need to just keep coming down GENTLY and then surf those pretty low blue and high greens....Make your mamabeans happy!

Another busy night followed by another mini bounce. At least Max isn't going super low, then super high. I'm sure this smaller roller coaster is healthier, although I know you'd prefer he skip the roller coaster and stick to a simple, gentle slide.

I'm like Chris. Once I get Cinco over 60, I stop feeding and if I get two tests over 60 at least 30 minutes apart, with no food influence, I figure we're good. I generally leave food available for him, just in case. I often set Otto for a couple of feedings, one hour apart.

I hope Max gives you a relaxing low blue surf today so you can get some rest.

Yikes. Thanks for answering my question Chris and Tricia. I fed him at +6 and *6.75 so I would have needed to stay up until +8.75 at least. I figured since he trends up by that time I was safe. I probably should have done one more test at +8 I guess. I had enough trouble getting any sleep at all when I did go to bed. It would be nice if the drops were during the day, wouldn't it?

What I'm doing with Eddie is watching for a drop late in the cycle or when he has a cycle-long slide from pre-shot to pre-shot. Eddie does this all the time when he's bounce clearing, and usually, I get a dive at the beginning of the next cycle - so the thought is that there's just a little too much overlap between the two doses, so a late cycle snack can put the brakes on the last dose a bit so there's not so much insulin action occurring at +1 and +2 of a cycle. A good example of this type of slide was the AM cycle of 8/31.

I'm not seeing Max do this kind of slide as obviously as Eddie does, but you'd basically looking for a slide down from the "peak" of a cycle headed to pre-shot. So today, I'd call the "peak" the 237 at +2 this morning which looks like a mini-bounce that he cleared immediately. If he slides all the way down to the PM and your PMPS is the lowest number of the cycle following the peak, that - to me - is a heads up for a busy cycle. An example of this on Max's SS might be the AM cycle of 8/30.

What I'm doing with Eddie is if I spot this pattern, to feed a tiny LC snack around +9 or +10.5 to have a little bit of extra food on board to try to smooth him out a bit when the bounce breaks at the same time the next dose is onsetting, so he's not diving quite as dramatically early in the cycle. At least that's the theory. :lol: I'm doing the experiment again today, in fact.

Thanks, Carla. I just wish that when Max has cycles like that it would carry over to the next one. I'm not complaining about the lack of sleep if it means he will be healthier.

I'm not sure the +9 snack was a good idea for Max even though it was just 3 pieces of Stella & Chewy's.

I love how fast Max got over that bounce. :-D Shaping up to be another great day in Max-Land. I'll be watching that fuds experiment. Which Stella and Chewy's are you feeding?

Hi Wendy. I've been feeding him a combo of ff classics, trader joes turkey and giblets, and stella and chewy's chick chick chicken and the turkey one. It was turkey until I finished the bag the other day and now I'm on the chicken. Nobody uses it here and I have been wondering why. I either mix it alone with water or mix it with ff and add water.When I emailed the company they said it is 3% carbs and the vet on the lymphoma list thinks it is a good food.I saw that Dr. Lisa didn't like their lack of transparency but didn't say anything negative about it.

I hope he cleared the bounce quickly and isn't headed for another. He might just have another cycle like this today where he mostly cruised in blue. He did that a few days ago when he stopped his green consecutive days at 8 I think. Still he's had 10/12 I think. Not too shabby.

Uh-oh....where's the usual food spike? Another swim in the lagoon tonight? Just make sure you surf safely, Max, and let the bean get a little sleep.

Hi Shelly. Sleep is not looking promising. I hope all these sleepless nights will pay off with successful reductions.

My mom's latest culture results came back this afternoon and like my sister and I thought she has a UTI. of course no return phone call about starting an antibiotic before the culture and sensitivity is finalized. I really was scared this time that the awful personality change was due to mental decline as the previous cultures were negative. They just have to figure out how to stop this nasty cycle. On the bright side the med change seems to be solely bringing her heart rate down and her blood pressure wasn't quite as low. Thanks so much for asking.

I gave Max 9% for his meals so far tonight and he is coming down slowly. Not sure if that is why or not. Maybe he is a cat that needs a little more carbs at the beginning of the cycle than the ff classics.
