Goor Friday Morning LL!

I am sosososososososososososo happy that it's Friday, and this is a 3-day weekend. flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat

Great test shoot feed this morning. Jetta's all purry and rubby. I knew her number would be good because she wasn't being nuts for food. Great night last night too. She slept on my pillow almost all night and woke me up at 4 for a snack. If she could only find a better way to wake me. She wakes me by sniffling my nose. The problem is the tickly whiskers. It's a terrible feeling to wake up thinking there may be a spider crawling up your nostril! Anyway, I guess it works for her.

Sending warm thoughts to Tarragon again today and any other kitties who need them!

Re: 9/2 Jetta AMPS 218

Looking good, Jetta!!! Simply lovely AMPS!!! LOL on the whiskers....Zoe's preferred means of waking me up, is standing on her steps up to the bed and meowing as close to my ear as she can get....wakes me right up!  ;-) Just gotta love those wake-up calls!

Here is the Automatic Feeder I use with Zoe....she was doing the early, early morning wake-up calls....so I set it up to open at 2 am and 4 am with a little bit of plain cooked chicken....if she's hungry she eats it and if she's not, she ignores it, however it has lessened the early wake-up calls for food.

Have a great FRIDAY, Jaclyn!

Thanks for the link Sherry! I'm still contemplating the feeder thing. I think I need to find a new home for Olivia, the kitten. She's a shark when it comes to canned food and everytime I feed Jetta I have to lock Jetta in the bathroom. The pesky kitten is always outside the door demanding entry. So if I get a feeder, she'd snarf the food before Jetta ever makes it there :? And she really pesters Jetta, not because she's bad-simply because she's a kitten.

I'm really struggliing with what to do. I don't believe in adopting a pet then getting rid of them. I've had Jetta for over 13 years, and my dog for almost 12. I just never saw FD coming when we got Olivia.

Jetta's numbers are a bit high today. Wondering if the .5 is going to hold.

I'm glad to hear Jetta is gaining weight back. Poor Olivia, I hope you can find a way to get things settled. Does she get canned food too? Pound for pound kittens need more calories that adult cat. Is there any way to keep them separated at night?

Hi Ann,

Right now Olivia and the other civvie Ranger are finishing out the Iams dry I've been feeding for years. Then I'm going to switch them both over to the Wellness Core or Innova EVO Dry. DH is is NOT a fan of wet food (he gags...) so my best options are those 2 low carb dry formulas. Jetta will stay on canned since it's best for her and I'm home 98% of the time to feed her.

Locking Olivia up at night is definitely an option. I don't have a room to stick her in right now, but long term I think that's what we're going to have to do.

Re: 9/2 Jetta PMPS 200

Hi Jaclyn

Jetta is looking good and flat is good!!! I hope the .5u holds for her.

When we got Tobey, he would try to do the same thing and that is the reason I don't use an auto feeder. He's 15 mos old now and we still have to monitor EVERYONEs food or he'll go plate to plate. But it has gotten better as he has gotten older and isn't eating himself into kitten oblivion. We try to get all the other cats' food ready and then we put their food down and grab him and feed him (everyone gets canned) and I'll give him a couple helpings of his food while the others are eating so we are able to distract him. That's only at breffis and dinner because it's the only time they all eat at the same time (except Gracie...she's on a different schedule). When we feed Gracie, I'll take a little bit of his food and some dried chicken treats and just put a dab of food on my finger and let him lick it off ....keeping him occupied while Grace eats. It works out well.

Looks like Jetta's off to the races and i better get the coffee going...

Re: 9/2 Jetta PMPS 200 +2 76

Good plan re. that pot of coffee!!

When Gabby was diagnosed, Gizmo was 4 months old. Giz is a Norwegian Forest Cat -- they don't reach maturity until they're about 5 years old. He's now 2.5 years old and loves to torment Gabby. Initially, Gizmo would want Gabby's food and vice versa and would shove Gabby out of her bowl. Once I had them on the same food, I was less concerned about who was eating what. Now, Gabby will muscle Gizmo out of his bowl.

If DH has problems with the smell of canned food, you might try Wellness or Merrick Before the Grain. They are both human grade canned food. Frankly, getting the kitten on canned food will be much better for her overall, long term health. If you've not seen Dr. Lisa Pierson's site on feline nutrition, it will make a believer out of you.

Re: 9/2 Jetta PMPS 200 +2 76 +3 49

Yep, she had me convinced. Tricky girl. I just gave her some gravy (finally found some she likes for those of you who remember past nights with me saying- she won't eat the gravy!) She's finishing her dinner now too. Not much there so she shouldn't be too full. Does this mean we reduce again? Or see how things progress throughout the remainder of tonight?
