Hi Everyone
I posted to the main forum but have been advised to post to this forum.
Could someone advise if I can just copy and repost here or if I need to retype again.
Thanks,
Jan

Here is the link to your post on the Feline Health forum http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/help-needed-interpreting-chers-high-numbers.183265/
So people can read the details without you retyping. Cher sure has a lot going on.:bighug:

Hello and welcome. I had a couple kitties with IBD/small cell lymphoma. One changed fro IBD to SCL. Neko we could not test because her heart condition precluded anesthesia. For ankitty that has diabetes, sometimes budesonide is a better choice than prednisolone. Neko was on budesonide Nd it didn't impact her blood sugar, but it did help her intestinal wall thickening.

I am glad you ignored the vet's comments about not testing. Otherwise you might not have seen that 4 units is a bit high. We make changes by 0.25 units at a a time, not whole units. I know, there are no syringes with 0.25 unit markings, but you can order some with 1/2 unit markings. Maybe @Girlie's mom , also in Oz, can provide details. In the meantime you can eyeball, or fill a sample syringe with coloured fluid as a sample to compare against to get consistency.

Ok, about food, there are better options. For IBD, a good orobiotic and novel protein may be better. Ziwipeak has some novel protein options that are fairly low carb. Not sure what else is available for you. Raw is also a good option. Check out http://www.ibdkitties.net/

And lastly, have you seen the bruising just once or more often? There is another condition that causes diabetes that also causes bruising so it would be nice to eliminate that.

So, so sorry - I just realised that Wendy had referred you to me re: the 1/2 unit syringes. I'll post that in your current post.
