If I don't see green in today's 2 cycle, someone is getting an increase tomorrow

Almost got everything packed for the boat. Im a little more organized this time haha.

But first, my little man has his annual vet checkup. Hopefully all his other mechanisms come back in working order lol

I hope the vetty visit goes well and Gordy settles down on the boat quickly. It does look like he needs more juice.

His +1.75 was 276. Now now.

I didn't have any open wet to give for his +2 snack, so he did get a little dry Evo in the car on the way to the Vet.

Ok... i literally packed my cat up, argued with the vet and left. Never in my life.

1. He lectured me on how FF is a terrible diet and that i need fancy expensive food. LECTURED
2. The VET told me that I was using the wrong needles... "pets use u40 needles." No, no they dont. The insulin uses the needle. And he wanted to argue with me.
3. THEN they tell me they're not going to vaccinate my cat because they dont vaccinate "sick" cats. Excuse me??? Yes he is diabetic but he is not suffering from any ailments. There is NO reason to deny me the vaccinations. Has anyone heard of this? They said its because his immune system is "compromised"

I told them that I was going to take my cat home. And I left. I've veen dealing with this "sickness" for a year. I kind of know what I am doing.

The vet he saw before, who we LOVED, is only there on Thursday.

I will be finding a new office.

(The vet tech was super nice. And she tried to calm me down after the vet left the room. I made it until I was on the road before i started crying.)

Oh my gosh. I know exactly how you are feeling. I have been there this summer. The way you were treated is just ridiculous. Hope you find a better vet soon. :bighug:

OMG What a horror visit!!!

The scary thing is that this vet will possibly be treating other FD kitties in the future and obviously has no idea what he is talking about. The food issue is typical since the pet food companies have them brain-washed, but if he were to prescribe U40 syringes with a U100 insulin he could quite literally kill that kitty with an overdose. There are a number of members that do not vaccinate their FD kitties and there have been numerous discussions on whether it is safe or necessary.

I hope this vet either wisens up or is removed before he does harm to an FD kitty.

Good luck with finding another vet.

Oh Cass!! Good for you packing up your cat and leaving!!!! What a jerk! Obviously, he knows nothing about Lantus insulin, maybe he only RX ProZinc which uses U40 syringes. The food thing is likely he wanted you to buy RX food from them. :banghead: A lot of the vets are under the propaganda that the cat food companies feed them. It's sad.

I have heard of some saying that with Diabetes the immune system is compromised and not to vaccinate. I don't do any more vaccines for my animals. I think we over vaccinate and the only ones the dogs and cats get is rabies because it's the law.......

Thanks everyone for your support. Ill have to do some research to find a new vet. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

We made it to the boat and Gordy is chillin'.

Miserable behavior.
However, you may be interested in knowing that the distemper shots and 3 in one that covers respiratory problems are effective for 8 years according to the veterinarians association - or whatever they call themselves. And rabies shots last 3 years, at least. Furthermore the 1 year and 3 year raabies vaccines both last for 3 years -at least. Why they name them 1 year and 3 year is anyone's guess. I don't know about the FELK vaccinations, So don't get too worried.

+4 was 311

We've all gone to our "beds"... Gordy is randomly crying every 20 minutes again. i think he is bored and wants a window to look out... but theres not really a good one... they are all skylight/hatches. o_O
