I'm tired and cranky, so no stories today. She didn't want to eat at breakfast and my new attitude is - whatever. I went back to bed. She eventually got up and ate a bowl of shredded chicken. Her numbers are weird - they seem to go up - I got new syringes and they don't seem that much different from the box I didn't like. A couple of boxes ago, I could measure to the "0" line and still have room to push the plunger in a bit. Lately, with these syringes, the plunger is as far as it will go on the 0 line. That means I'm going to have to re-figure my dose based on these syringes. I've looked at the size of the drop that comes out, but it's so tiny that it's hard to tell... yesterday she dropped below 100 for the day and I measured the same. Then again - it could just be Kasha.

I know what you mean on the syringes Krys, I'm having the same problem. Seems every one is different, and I'm having to do a trial draw each time. I really wish they'd make special syringes for these miniscule doses.

Sending (((()))) to you both. I hope that the vet visit ?Tuesday goes easy and that you start seeing improvement in Kasha.

I've heard a few people complain about the syringes lately, hope you get things figured out so you're a little less stressed out at least.

Hi Krys, I have had good luck with the Monoject 30 gauge-3/10cc, half-unit markings syringes (5/16'', short needle) from Hocks (Hocks item number: A653121). They have good play between the 0 line and the tip. In fact, I forcefully hold the plunger on the syringe all the way in when I stick it in the gasket of the Lantus cartridge and therefore can almost always avoid air bubbles, too. The best thing about these syringes is that the plunger is totally flat, so you can really see the dose you are drawing. Also, they are not too expensive ($17.49 for 100) and they arrive quickly by mail.

I hope that you are having a better day as the day wears on. Kasha is doing the best she can, and so are you. Hang in there, get some good rest, and feel refreshed tomorrow. We are thinking of you always.

Thanks, Ella. I have been trying to stick with Relion because they are so handy to buy - I don't have to remember to order. Once upon a time (oh, say - 6 mos ago?) I would never forget to order anything - I live my life by my online orders. Now my brain is too fried to rely on anymore. I may try them, but it was so nice to just pick up syringes at any old Walmart...

Kasha is trying to subsist on a shredded chicken diet. This isn't the first time she's done this. For right now, I'm happy to see her go to her food bowl and eat on her own. But she's really going to need more than that in the long run...

Played disc golf again yesterday and today. 36 holes over 2 days... It's kind of a fun game, even though I suck at it. At least it's something we can do outside.

I've got at least 10 syringes from my last box set aside- the lines on them are super thick. Can't really dose out a micro dose when your lines are all wonky. :? I am with you though...being able to run to walmart and get food, syringes and lancets all at once is nice. Here is to hoping Kasha's appetite picks up and she eats something other than shredded chicken soon.
