Good afternoon Erika!
I would like to revisit my suggestion in yesterday's condo for a minute. Here is what I wrote:
My reasoning was so you wouldn't end up having to skip shots due to low numbers. It is suggested that the starting point is 1 unit but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the best place to start for every cat. You are just starting to try to find the right dose for him, not walking back down the dosing ladder. This morning you had to stall and end up skipping as he was too low to comfortably shoot. Since this is now the 4th day, the depot should be close to full but possibly not quite. Yes you want to keep him in 'healing numbers' but that's the 'normal' range, 50-120. I still feel it would be better to back off to .75u's letting the depot fill then moving up if needed. This would allow Lantus to work as designed. You want to find stable numbers. You were using another insulin but it didn't work the same way. Now that you had to skip today, it's affecting the fill of the depot. If you hadn't fed his low numbers yesterday, he would likely have dropped below that 50 reduction number - you were already just 4 points above that early in the cycle. Yes that's trying to predict what
could have happened but in my opinion, that's what
would have happened as there was nothing to stop that downward slide already in progress.
This is different than what would be suggested for a cat already on Lantus. Even I would agree with letting them 'earn' a reduction of under 50. That's just not the case here.
As Marje so graciously pointed out above, I have a different opinion but you hold the syringe. Weighing all the reasons of both suggestions, you can decide which is more comfortable for you. Everyone will support whichever way you decide to go.
This isn't an 'argument', this is just differing opinions...

All of us want Harry to be the most healthy cat he can be!
HUGS! Hope you get a good nap today!
