Vanessa, your new kitty barista

I hope everyone has had a great week. We have been.... well, busy again!:joyful::cool: I just can't imagine not being on the go. ;) It keeps us out of trouble, and makes for great times! I often think back on the weeks happenings, and wonder how in the world did we do all that! It was the same this past week. We have had a week of adventure, and fun, and feels awesome to be back at it, fall style. Nicholas is back in Pre-School, and swim lessons. William is back riding on the shirt-tails of his brother, and creating a few of his own. The weather has been good, some sun, some clouds,. some rains, temps cooler at about 65, outdoors has been our afternoon playground (we have dodged those rains) after mornings of swimming for both boys, short of Thursday which was our "off/free" day. It has been a good week... :):)

I am continuing with a different method for the photo links, same as weeks past, providing the link to Google/Picassa photo albums, rather than individual links to the albums themselves. It seemed to work the past few weeks, and does save me alot of time. :) So.... here ya go: Photos for the week: A Week in the Life of Nicholas & William: 9/12 - 9/19/2015

AWESOME WEEK in the pool! :joyful::smuggrin::) We started the Fall Session this week, with Nicholas's new lesson time slot of "after school". He leveled up to the next skill level at the end of summer sessions, what they call A Youth Safety 4 level. :woot::woot::woot::woot::woot: These classes are geared for the elementary age kids, and wow, to have a 4 year old be at the top of the level is really darn amazing. WTG NICHOLAS.:woot: It was so nice to see him fit right in with the elementary aged kids. He has 2 7yr olds, and 2 6yr olds in his class. He Loved class, and couldn't wait for the next one to come along. We are adjusting to getting both boys adequate pool time. William will be swimming in the morning when Nicholas is at school, and this time slot last week proved to be a really nice one for him. The pools are not busy and he can do and learn at his own pace. I've introduced him to the "big pool", and he has taken to that very well. It so reminds me of Nicholas when he first started using that pool. Nicholas has his free swim time on the afternoons, at what is called an open rec swim, about an hour or so before his class time. It is nice for him in that this time slot has the extra things open that he really likes: big tube slides, lazy rivers, and deep water. Wednesday has prove to be a challenge, in that William needs to go with Nicholas for this swim, after already having a full morning in the pool. He did well last week, but in reality that is alot of pool time for a 2 year old, so we may adjust that going forward. Nicholas continues to swim Friday Nights in the late afternoon, early evening. It is a night of just fun swimming in a very nice pool. This time slot if just for fun, something he and I have been doing for sometime now. I just love Friday nights! We are grateful for our time in the pool. It has all enabled to boys to explore anther aspect of growing up, one they really enjoy. It has just become the norm for us, we go each week, and just never tire of it. It proves to be such fun for both boys, and their excitement with it all has not wavered. And then there is that Friday (night) burger feast....
GO NICHOLAS! GO WILLIAM !!

Nicholas: Tubin' if the lazy river!

We are back to adventure after adventure. What fun it is to have so many cool places to have these adventures in. We have taken advantage of rainless periods during the day, and warm temps, and are grateful that the hot weather seems to have left us for a while. :):woot: Fall seems to be in the air.... ;) Thursday was our questionable weather day, and our "free no obligations" day, so we opted to play it safe and went to the Pacific Science Center. It is one of the boys favorite places to go. It was nice too to ave the whole day to explore, and not have a set time frame. I think we did just about everything there as to do there, FUN STUFF! We have explored a new park, Wilcox Park, as it is near to Nicholas's school, and the pool. It was welcome on Wednesday when we were juggling pool and school obligations, but still wanted an outdoor place to play. We had enough of a weather break Friday afternoon that Nicholas and William were able to return to the Sammamish River at Bothell Landing Park. It was 70 that afternoon, so the boys decided they needed to be IN the river, so they did. KUDOS! That was a blast, and drew a few raised eyebrows form trail walkers. ;) and comments from other kids: "Why can't I do that?" Boys had so much fun getting down and dirty in the mud and sand and rocks and water that made up the Sammamish River. I think the duckies missed them too, as they showed up in droves when we got there. FUN TIMES, just watching, and participating with, boys being boys.

For my own personal time, I continue to hike the local trails here when I can: Meadowdale, Picnic Point, Mesika and Scriber lake. It is great to have such good places to go to when time permits. Due to weather, wild fires, and appointments I really didn't have anytime to travel for a hike, but hope to rectify that this upcoming week. Out wetter weatehr has helped with the wildfires, and some of the areas I hike in are open once again. YAY! I can hardly wait to get back out there! I was able to go for a short hike on Sunday, a new hike spot for me: Sultan Canyon River. It was a decent woodsy hike, culminating at rivers edge, in the canyon. The river was very pretty there, but access to the river was somewhat limited. As this is a newly built trail, I will hope for plans to expand it some, with a river walk. Paws crossed!

Normalcy in Three MusketeerVille. :cat::cat::cat: Kitties are doing well, and adjusting to the loss of their friend Elsa. dang, we still all miss her alot, think of her daily. They are doing well, and there really isn't much change from last week in their overall well being. They are adjusting to the arrival of fall, I will often find them curled up in kitty beds or their fleece blankets. Bug is still being cuddly and befriending Vanessa. He has become the new patriarch of the family, taking over for Elsa. Lola is still escaping, and has decided that Vanessa is her new best friend. They can often be found hanging out together. Lola really seems to have mellowed alot over the summer, "growing up" I guess. She still is my crazy feisty girl, but I find I am saying "LOLA STOP" less and less. :joyful: I never thought I'd ever be saying that Lola has mellowed. Vanessa and Bug are my lap cats. They often trade off lap duties. :):) Vanessa was back on 9/14 to the vetty to have the ear(s) looked at, and helpfully the meds will have helped get the inflammation down. The vetty seems to feel that this is a chronic condition with her, as there is alot of scar tissue in there, indicating it as been a recurring problem for her. Ears are looking great! Plan gong forward it to treat and clean once a week to ward off any problems. We also had them culture some scaly patches on her ears. As they say, never ever a dull moment! The patches came back with a DX of Ringworm. ARGGHHH!!!!! :arghh::confused::eek:o_O and DARN IT!!! :( Anyways, she is on meds for that, a pill once a day and topical lotion twice a day on obvious fungal spots. She seems to be responding to the topical medicine, as there are no new spots, and the ones that are/were there appears to be improving. I have tossed what I could of hers, but so much is communal between all the cats, how does one toss carpets and sofas, and well.... they have already been exposed. I am on watch with the other cats, and after two weeks, so sign of a fungal invasion. a relief! We have cleaned with what we should clean with, changed bedding, etc. The only thing I haven't done is isolation. Maybe I should have, but I just couldn't do that to her, it has taken so long for her to feel comfortable here. So... we are taking a risk, but so far, the others are fine. All in all: Normalcy in MusketeerVille! :cat::cat::cat:

Bug, one cool laid back dude...

I hope everyone has a great Caturday. It is catch up day here: shopping, laundry and maybe a local hike this afternoon, as it should be a somewhat sunny and warm one. YaHOO! My son has a band concert tonight, so I am off to that. WOOT, and Rock on Fallen Angels!

KITTIES!! Remember: BLUE, think GREEN :cat:

Vanessa! This :coffee: is WONDERFUL and da cimmamum donut goes so well with it!

What a WONDERFUL week! The boys are growing up so fast. I remember Nicholas refusing to do 'class' for SO long...gosh how time passes quickly.

Yuck Ringworm! I'm thankful we've never had a problem with that - I feel for you...

HUGS!!!

Another insane week for you and the crowd. I have to take a 5 hour Energy drink just to read your condos!

Bummer on the ringworm. I'm so glad the others seemed to have avoided contamination (anti-jinx). What a pain to deal with, too. Almost as bad as a flea infestation. (We once moved into an apartment that came complete with fleas and didn't realize what was biting us until we moved our cats in. ARGH!). Hope it clears up soon and does NOT come back.

I'm glad things are working out with the boys and the Fall pool schedules. Poor Vanessa. I hope the ringworm clears up quickly. I'm glad the other kitties seem to be unaffected. I hope it doesn't spread. I don't blame you for not isolating her. It's hard to have a sick kitty in a multi-cat household. I once had an upper respiratory infection pass around. The first few that got sick got over it and then got it again from the others who got sick. Enjoy your son's band concert.

@Squeaky and KT Hi Lyresa ;):coffee: THX for the visit! THX on the week, and the boys. I have to smile every time I see Nicholas dash off to swim class. I know all too well how long, like a year, it took for hi to say yes to taking them! :woot: I so know on that ringworm.... sure would like to know how she picked that up! no clue....
Auntie Lyresa - YAY! You like it!!!! am so very happy! I may make a good barista yet! :cat::cat::cat: ~ Vanessa, kitteh barista

@Tricia & Cinco Hi Tricia :):coffee: You crack me up.... I have another version of those energy drinks in my frig and so admit to having them in the car for that 2PM pick me up when I'm with the boys. What I would give to have endless emery like they do. :joyful: Agreed on that ringworm. Such a hassle to get rid of and treat, one cannot just do a week of meds and be done, his one goes on for a while. I so hope she recovers FAST! Paws crossed! I second that thought on it NOT coming back! Please let it be so... oh my on your flea infestation...

@carfurby Hi Carla :):coffee: THX on the boys, I am so glad too that so far things are coming together with the Fall schedule. It is a relief! THX too on Vanessa. I just cannot believe that she has this, and simply cannot figure out where she got it from.... we hope the others don't catch it. I understand the incubation period is 1-2 weeks, and we are ending week 2, so maybe we have dodged that bullet. It is hard to have one kitty with an issue in multi-cat household. I just couldn't isolate her... oh no on the URI episode you had... Lola came home from the shelter with one when we first got her, spread it to the others, but thankfully she didn't catch it back! THX ont eh concert. it should be fun! It has been a while since I have been able to hear one of his shows. :woot:

Hi Michelle,
I finally got to your last week's condo and loved the pictures and hearing about your "week off- duty". Now it's back in the groove, and you sound so happy to be there with the boys, watching their amazing progress. It is just wonderful that Nicholas is in the elementary-school swim class (and at the top of it!). But of course we all know that he is on the way to becoming a first-class swimmer. William seems older than 2, just like Nicholas seems older than 4!

Bummer on the ringworm. @Linda and Bear Man and I were talking about how it is dealt with in the shelter where she volunteers. Perhaps she might have some tips for you. I'm glad Vanessa's ears are improving.

Have a great week. It's a good thing your weather is cooling off and that you are getting some rain. I hope you get on one of those mountain hikes this week.

Hugs and scritches,
Vanessa, the coffee was wonderful this morning. You are doing great, Kitteh Barista!

Ella & Rusty

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee: Hey thx on my "off week" duty. It was alot of fun, sure got in a few hikes, but have many more to do before the season is more or less over for this year. It is great to be back with the boys. We always have such fun, they are so receptive to so many things that it really is a treat to care for them. Nicholas never ceases to amaze me with his pool skills. I always felt that once in the lesson program he would do well, and he has. I expect William will be much the same. I too find it hard to believe that they are just 4 and 2. They remind me of my daughter, who we always said was 15 going on 25. :joyful: I so agree on the ringworm! I really do hate fungal infections. They are so hard to deal with, and take what seems like forever to eradicate. Thanks for tagging @Linda and Bear Man , I hadn't thought to do that, and am glad you did. I'd love to hear what she has to say on it all. Overall, there are signs of improvement in her ears, so we keep on truckin'. THX on the hikes, I hope so too! Hard to believe that there are maybe 3/4 weeks left before the snows take over... I am glad the weatehr has cooled, the temps now are perfect for outdoor hiking, and anything else, adventures.
Auntie Ella!!! THANKS YOU!!!! I am so glad that I am getting better. I am thinking of adding tea infusions.. Hmmmmm... maybe! ~~ Vanessa, kitteh barista

Oh thank you for the wonderful mocha Vanessa-- Elsa and Mannie are smiling with approval!!! Love the cimmamum donut too! :joyful::joyful::joyful:

Congrats to Nicholas for the next level of classes- and William too, swimming underwater is challenging but he looks so happy!! Wonderful pics as always Michelle, that made my day! We have never been to Sultan River Canyon, it looks so beautiful, thanks for pointing it out! My friends tell me it is still very dry near Leavenworth and Yakima, there has been rain but they could use more. I'm still trying to heal my sciatica and back problem, hoping it goes away or I won't even get over to Eastern Washington for any hiking. :nailbiting: Hope your shoulder is feeling better too! Did you lose power yesterday? Ours blinked on and off but not like the last time, thank Goodness! Sending vines for Vanessa's ear, and hugs and scritches for the whole crew!

Just seeing this now. Sorry to hear about the ringworm dx. I was just asking someone at the shelter recently about what they are currently using. I was told that they are using oral itraconazole, topical ointment on any lesions, and baths using an accelerated hydrogen peroxide shampoo (however the one they use is on back order). Keep in mind that ringworm can also be contagious to humans in the home. Good luck with Vanessa's treatment. Good to hear that she seems to be responding so far.

@Tiger(GA) and Ruth Morning Ruth :coffee::coffee::coffee: THX on the boys, and the pool. They both just love going, so we spend alot of time there. Fun stuff! Excellent on Sultan River Canyon. I was over by Washington pass yesterday, till dry there too, and not too surprised it is the same in Leavenworth. I need to get over there too. Hope your back issues are improving, so you can make Eastern Washington for some fall hiking. My shoulder is getting better, slow progress, but better that way, or so they tell me. and no on the power! Sure was windy, but we didn't have any problems. THX too on Vanessa, that too is slowly getting better.
Auntie Ruth! I am such a cimmamum donut fan! Goods, huh! ~~ Vanessa, kitteh barista. THX too for letting me know you thinks Elsa and Mannie approve. That is so cool!

@Linda and Bear Man Morning Linda :coffee::coffee::coffee: No worries, and THX (!!) for your input. We are giving her an oral med, and wall as a topical lotion. Improvement is there, thank goodness! Yupp on the contagious stuff, we are ding what we can to prevent that, and so far, after 2/3 weeks, no signs. A relief! so we keep on trucking with the whole thing and hope is goes away totally never to be seen again. paws crossed!
