Good Saturday Morning, Everyone,

A cold morning to start the day (39 degrees outside, but it looks like the sun will break through). Breakfasts 1 and 2 consumed. Litterbox activity good. Outside inspection of the garden, fine. But the pill piece was not eaten, I think. We thought Stu had taken it, but then I found white powder ground into the sole of my sandal! I put another piece of pill into a pill pocket and maybe he will take it (but we'll probably have to try again this evening with the full day's dose; at least in the pill pocket I can see that he didn't take his pill!). I can't wait for the pill shooter to arrive!!!
The beans are going canoeing today (the paddle on a branch of the the St. Regis River that was postponed on Thursday). We don't have to leave until after +3, so we should be able to see how Stu is trending today.
Hope everyone has a good Caturday,

Ella & Stu

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244

Enjoy your canoeing trip, today :-D and good luck getting that dang pill down.

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244

Sounds like you have a fun day planned! Stu looks like he'll be able to see some blue waters today too with that amps.

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244

Have fun on the river, I do miss the autumn living out here. Looks like Stu may give you a comfortable day to be out.

Stu, I'll be out as soon as it's light huntin up lizards for the grill. Dune Party! --Tess

Ella, you have a beautiful day for going on the water. It's to be in the 70's here in Buffalo.(sort of).
Hope you get that pill into Stu tonight. I've found pills on the floor, when it looked like a cat ate it..I think they hide it on their cheek and go 'patooey!' , when we turn our backs.
Ella, thank you for the support last night.
Have a wonderful day of paddling. :-D

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244

Hey Stu - you and Emma are right in the same range this morning!
Enjoy your canoeing today Ella - looks like it's going to be a nice sunny fall day around here too!

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244

sounds like a good morning for you guys, other then finding his pill on the bottom of your shoe! I hope you have a good time canoeing .. it is cold and rainy here today ...

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244, +2.5 124 (fed 12%)

Yes! An afternoon paddle - sounds great, with nice fall weather to enjoy it in. Exceptional! we have rain..........

Nice drop there for Stu - probably a good thing that you gave 12%, especially if you are off for a paddle. You have to love it when they cheek a pill, only to find it later one the floor, hidden in one of their "spots", or on your shoe. I will have to check out this pill shooter.

Stu - dude! Way to go on the cheekin' of your meds. Man, you gotta eat those things, ya know. It's good for you. I know - they taste funny, but well eat it anyways. hey - we are all off to Tess's today to surf, and play on the dunes. Tess has gone lizard hunting - so we can grill too. Woot! I love it when our beans take off for a day - such fun we have. See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Surf Stu!

I'm very lucky that Gabby's easy to pill. I'm also eternally grateful to Krys who told me about the LC, hypoallergenic Pill Pockets. Gabby adores them and I sometimes give them as a treat.

I heard that! LOL

Hope you have better luck with pilling Stu there... I can sympathize - when I first had to give Kasha tapazole for a month or so during the hyperthyroid time, I often just sat on the ground completely frustrated and in tears that she'd found yet another way to avoid her pill...

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244, +2.5 124 (fed 12%), PMPS 170

Good Evening, Everyone,
A bit late in getting home. We had a great day on the river: very remote area, gorgeous wetlands, autumn color in the trees and grasses. Saw hawks, a great blue heron, and cedar waxwings. Edward went "swimming" (fell into the water while getting out of his canoe in a tricky spot): fortunately he had dry clothes with him. On the way there we passed a country inn/tavern and thought it would be a good place to have a beer on the way home. Wow! On the way home the place was jumping--picnic tables set out in front, pickup trucks and motorcycles all over the place. The new owners were throwing a barbeque for their "members" and also for "guests", so we went in. Very friendly folks. They welcomed us and took time to actually talk with us. All of our little group wound up joining ($20 a couple for a year and we got a free meal and t shirts and $2 beer, plus we can stay there anytime we want for $20. a night. It is a "social club" (so they don't have to have a liquor license, or be "inspected"). The place is off the grid, but has a generator and the new owners plan to put in solar.
Oh yes, Stu. Mr. Cat was out surfing in CA, and apparently surfed blue or even green. When we left he had dropped over 100 points from AMPS, so I fed him some 12% Thanksgiving Day Dinner and set up his automat with 8% for lunch (Grammy's Pot Pie) and 5% for +9 snack (Cowboy Cookout). He ate all the 12% and some of each of the other offerings. He was happy to see us (he really wanted to go outside). The pill in the pill pocket was, of course, untouched. (Sienne, he doesn't care for either the allergy pill pocket or the regular one.) Tonight we'll try to throw one down his throat!

Off now to visit condos. We hope everyone had a good Caturday.

Ella & Stu

p.s. to Krys: Those pills must taste awful!!

Re: 9/18 Stu AMPS 244, +2.5 124 (fed 12%), PMPS 170

Ok, here's my alternative pilling approach when she won't eat the pill pocket on her own: I put a little pill pocket around the pill and then I press it into the roof of her mouth. I try to hold her mouth shut, more or less and tilt her head up so she can't spit for distance with the little pill (she is a champ at spitting pills, food, etc long distances). The sticky pill pocket makes it harder to spit out, it seems.

Thanks, Krys!!! What's your secret for getting Kasha to open her mouth in the first place?? Stu has an iron jaw!

Ella

what a wonderful day! I can only imagine how beautiful it must have been there today, with the fall colors and all.I like the new place you found - what fun!

on cat pilling - i have to literally sit on them, from behind, use one hand to grab the upper mouth area, (and yes - it will open), and the other hand to push the pill in. works every time - i just have to watch for the cheeking routine... good luck!

i had to use a pill applicator that the vet gave us on Homie (GA)...but it was a dream tool for difficult dosing

With the pill shooter I was able to get the pill further back, less chance to cheek it and fewer mangled fingers. Then I would hold Cleo's mouth shut and stroke her throat until I felt her swallow.
