Got too excited too fast! amps 317 +8 319 he loves to get my hopes up.

Does anyone know how long it takes unregulated cats to experience organ damage? We have been going for a long time here with negative results. I am starting to get worried.

You know, just like everything else, ECID when it comes to how well a cat does as a diabetic if they don't come OTJ. And whatever other disease processes they go through, you can't really say the diabetes caused that particular organ to become diseased. How can you know?

I felt that Levemir gave Gandalf the best chance at a long life and even though he's failing now, I still believe I was right. He became diabetic at 12, actually a little over 11 1/2 because it was January '05 and he was born in May of '93. Would he live longer had he not been diabetic? I can't really say. His disease now was probably caused by diet, just as his diabetes was tipped from steroids and diet. But being diabetic probably didn't help matters either.

I don't want anyone to get discouraged who can't achieve OTJ for their kitty. Gandalf sure has had his share of high numbers, along with better numbers. He may end his life as a diabetic, but he won't be passing away from the diabetes.
