Yesterday Jetta 9/17

Good Sunday Morning LL, ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

This bean clearly needs smacked around a little. I set my alarm for a +4 test after the +3 105 last night, and the alarm went off but I never got up. Now this morning I fur shot again. I wiped my hand across her shoulder and came away wet and Lantus smelling. SO, 2 things- I need to have the area reshaved. Her black fur and grey skin make it SO hard to see what I'm doing. And I'm going to go get a headlamp thing. I felt like Jetta was getting back to good numbers from my last fur shot and I had to go and set her back again. Ay yi yi. Who do I talk to about joing the "dollar for every fur shot" club?   It looks like I'm ready to start collecting!

In other news, I saw the feral kittens outside last night after about 2 weeks of not seeing them. They look great thanks to the tons of food I'm feeding their momma and she's a great momma. I set 2 traps last night but didn't get anything except my bait stolen by raccoons. I probably need to give them another week or so when they'll be more likely to explore on their own and then *hopefully* I can get them. Momma now eats on our lanai so I have hopes that she'll bring them with her one day soon but I have a feeling she knows I want those babies! and will keep me as far away from them as possible.

Well, I'm off to drown my cares in breffis. Have a great day LL!

Re: 9/18 Jetta AMPS 292 (fur shot)

Ugh. Maybe- though I was half a cup in and had been up for 45 minutes already. Poor Jetta. I can't believe there's NOTHING I can do for her. Clearly nothing went in. She's miserable.

Re: 9/18 Jetta AMPS 292 (fur shot)

I'm happy (sorry?) to report that you have a ways to go before you catch up to me with fur shots!! If I had a dollar for every fur shot, I'd be rich!! A headlamp helps, so does pulling up the hair to see the skin (is Jetta long-haired?).

Good luck with the kittens.

Re: 9/18 Jetta AMPS 292 + 2 390 :(

I'm sorry to hear about that fur shot. *HUGS* Hopefully Jetta will come down a bit regardless.

I think you're right about the feral kittens. As they get older, they'll get bolder and start exploring a bit more on their own. I wish you all the best in catching them.

Re: 9/18 Jetta AMPS 292 + 2 390 :(

So sorry about the fur shot. I aways "part" Trixie's fur before shooting, so I can see the skin before I go in with the needle. I do it in the spot the vet had shaved for us when she was first diagnosed. I just sort of push the fur to the sides, "tent" right above the part, then shoot. To the best of my knowledge, I haven't done a fur shot yet with this method. Maybe that'll work for Jetta, so you dont' have to have her spot reshaved?

Try and have a good day...all will be well!!

I'm sorry about the fur shot. It's very frustrating. Anne keeps quoting someone "It's a marathon, not a sprint." Jetta's getting great care. She'll come back down soon.

Bummer on the fur shot......hate that she feels icky. You will have her back in good numbers again, soon.

Good luck on getting the kittens!!!

Enjoy your day, Jaclyn....

Jetta appreciated the company today  She did really well today suprisingly. She helped me make the bed by instigating a rousing game of cover moster between her and BLS. So my "clean" sheets are now sufficiently furred and likely shouldn't rightfully be considered clean even though they've just been put on.

Good news- I definitely got the PM shot in. Though I stabbed her twice before I decided I was in and to go for it. I'm going to have her re-shaved tomorrow. Especially with DH going to start shooting tomorrow night.

Julie gets credit for this one.

     I told it to Julie!!!   But I can't take credit for it. Someone else told it to me in our first few months here.

Jaclyn: when you shoot, do you tent her skin or roll it? IF you tent, you might want to try rolling. What you do is pinch up some furbetween your thumb and forefinger and then roll your hand back. That usually will part the fur and you'll see some nice skin :-D :-D Good luck!!! I hope it helps. And if not, Sienne is right....more ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O) ~O)

Haha! That is too funny, Marje! You should get your share of the credit.
Jaclyn, getting down a good technique is a challenge. At first, we turned on every light in the house to try to see. Then we got a bright LED light on a gooseneck that we could direct to shine on his shoulders. That seemed to help. We also always put him on a footstool that is at a good height for us so we are in a good position.
