Good morning!!

I KNOW the information is there, but I can't seem to find it...I'm trying to figure out when to reset the dose counter for a late shot...how late the shot had to be? Hershey's shot was :45 late Sunday afternoon. So, I was thinking we might should reset the counter then. He dropped below (50) twice on the dose before Sunday and now this morning. So, not reset - it'd be the 3rd time. Reset - it'd be the 1st time. If someone could direct me where to find the information, I'd appreciate it - THANKS!!!!

Hershey is great - feeling extra frisky earlier this morning - stalking a bug! :o and rolling around with the catnip mouse. His nadir seems to have moved to later (like 8.5) in the cycle (well, except last Sun am :roll:) so I moved the +7 test to +8.5. His blue AMPS made me test at +8.25 and found the (46).

OT - Scurrying around here, still no baby. Contractions yesterday, had an appt and he told her to go home. Doug, Jessica and I went to see the Avengers last night (2nd time) - cell phones READY! Joseph started texting us towards the end saying fb told him she was in the hosp. Jessica spent the end of the movie testing to try to get the real scoop. (We were only about :15 from the hosp.) So, we skipped the final Shawarma scene and rushed out, only to learn it was a poorly worded post from son-in-law to my MIL - ugh!

Good morning! In lieu of anyone else, I think it depends more on the trend of numbers overall. Generally if we get 3 numbers in the 40s in a couple of weeks we will shave Tess's dose, but if there is a longer period of yellows or pinks in there we will start the count over. We want to see some momentum towards lower numbers. We mark Tess's under 50 numbers w/ a different color green, it helps to pick them out when looking at the SS as a whole.

Why are you doing the 3 under 50? Does Hershey have a hard time holding reduction? Usually, it's long term diabetics that we use that technique on, Hershey's dx was less than a year ago, so he isn't long term yet! :-D :-D

Thanks for responding! Hershey dropped to (35) 8/14 and we reduced to .45, which failed. 8/22 Went back to .65. I think .65u is SOOOO close to 'his dose' (for now) that we decided to try the 3 times below (50) before taking a shave. 9/3's reduction to .5u also failed, so back to .65u 9/6. He's been showing so many pinks lately that I'm not convinced he needs a reduction - like what you were saying about momentum...and when he gets one, we're thinking to .6u this time...

Another thing is that if we have a hard time getting her to come up, it's a sign to reduce soon. For Tess it usually just means the shed needs to be drained and then sh goes back up to her 'regular' dose. :?

Here you go...Counting Cycles

Theoretically, you would start counting over again at the cycle where you shot late. But I am also a proponent of listening to the cat as Ann is. If I have to work to keep numbers up, I reduce no matter if it's the first or third time below 50.

If you feel this is a good dose for him, you can leave it but you must be prepared to monitor him closely and take him down if he does this again so he doesn't get overdosed. I wouldn't be surprised if you leave the dose if he throws you a number below 40 soon.

Hey, Marje - Thanks. You're probably right about the soon-coming repeat (40) performance and not knowing when we'll have to go to the hospital...And, thanks a bunch for directing me to the counting cycles information!

Whew! That PMPS sure is a pretty color green! Too bad our kitties haven't figured out how to just sit there on those middle greens! Best wishes on the dosecrease/shave (assuming you guys are taking one!) Sleep well!!!

Very nice cycles for Hershey today! Hope it continues on to tomorrow with whatever dose you are going with. Interesting that he is on half the dose he was a month and a half ago, that's great!

Hey, Deborah - Yes, Ma'am! I was tickled with that PMPS (but a little nervous, too). Glad to see he got back to the greens! Yes, we took the shave to .5u.

Hey, Wendy - Thanks, I'd love to see him enjoy some lower numbers and give his little body a break! I hadn't noticed it was half the dose of about 6 weeks ago...that is interesting...
