Keiko is now on Pancreazyme 2 X day (started 9/16) and Denamarin 1X day (started 9/12) for his pancreatitis. Curve on 9/9/still high at 2/5 units. He is now on 3 units since 9/10. My vet consulted with the local veterinary school specialists on what to do and this is what they suggested. Keiko's case seems to be unique (?). Pancreazyme is a powder easy to put in food. Denamarin is a pill and has Sam-e, something I take.
Vet was not open to changing glucose meter from AlphaTrak to human kind for reporting BS levels. I guess if I bought a human meter is would be useful only for this forum I don't know if the vet would change her mind. I have not purchased a human one yet.
Plan to do a curve once Keiko has been on the pancreazyme a while since it may take a while to have any effect.
Behaviorally, he hangs out less by the food bowls and is interactive. He actually walks away from food for a while then returns to eat all of it (usually he inhales the food). He has his paw over his eyes right now and is sleeping and snoring. The treatment makes sense to me and I am hopeful.
Thank you again for your patience with me and all your help.
