AMPS - 483
+2 - 563
PMPS - 213 (also tested at 202 and 185! WOW!)
+12.5 - 195
+1 - 311
+2 -309
+4 - 337
+5 - 316
+6 - 290

Jeez, seems like Tip is loving big drops lately. ): Can't decide if she wants to move in to yellows, blues, and greens or if she wants to stay in the nasty pinks and reds.

Re: 9/17 - Tip - AMPS(483), +2(563), PMPS(213); Help

Just tested her a 2nd time, no insulin yet, still dropping and at 195, should I go ahead and still shoot?

You've got a bounce breaking. That's the good news. The question is whether you feel comfortable shooting a dropping number. If you feel OK about the possibility that you will need to steer the cycle with food to offset low numbers, then it's fine to shoot. (This is Jean Luc's SS from last night just so you have a sense of what this kind of cycle looks like.)

I do think this is a shootable number. There's no way to know if Tip's numbers will drop.

Okay,I think I should be fine then, I've had to steer her with food during big drops, same concept, right? I should have everything here to handle it. Just wanted some expert input before I go and shoot. So I'm going to go do that and watch her diligently, thank you.

A +2 might give a sneak preview to tonight's entertainment, Cindy.

Went ahead and got that +1, it was 311, I'm assuming a lot of that is a food spike?

Re: 9/17 Tip AMPS(483, +2(563) PMPS(213) +1(311) +2(309) +4(

So Tip has me completely confused. I know 100% tonight wasn't a furshot, but she's still reacting as if she got no insulin?

Re: 9/17 Tip AMPS-483... +1-311 +2-309 +4-337 +5-316 +6-290?

Sorry for the multiple posts....trying to use them as bumps.

But now she's at 290. Could it be with the new way I'm giving her insulin? Like, kind of an absorption issue? I decided to try to use this method first that was given to me yesterday: http://www.sugarpet.net/injecting.html

As I work better with pictures in the morning than just words. It helped with getting her to be better about shots, but now she seems a bit erratic?

If you want to bump a post, just write "bump" in the text box. :-D

I think all of her numbers from +1 to her current number are flat. Sometimes they start to clear a bounce but then go back up...we don't know why. And it's hard to know if she will start to come down towards the end of her cycle and be a little lower tomorrow.

I know when you've been up late, it's hard to get a +10 or +11 especially when you have school. But one of those tests will give you a lot of info. They can tell you if she is dropping at PS or not.

Hang in there! If she doesn't come down tonight or tomorrow, I'd take her up again.

Re: 9/17 Tip AMPS-483... +1-311 +2-309 +4-337 +5-316 +6-290?

Heh, sorry. Just decided I could also use it as an opportunity to ask another question too.

That's odd. But I can try and get more +11's right before the PM cycle and just get up early on weekends for a +11 or so for the night cycle. That'd likely be the easiest route on me. Hopefully her numbers improve tomorrow. Thanks. Now that my concerns on that are put to rest, maybe I can get some sleep, though I did nap earlier between tests just because I figured I'd probably be up late.

Re: 9/17 Tip AMPS-483... +1-311 +2-309 +4-337 +5-316 +6-290?

Here's some info on why the +10/+11 tests are important:

This is where the very early cycle spot checks (those +1's, +2's) and those very late cycle spot checks (the +10's, +11's) come into play. Call them the "neglected" spot checks. Everyone gets those +6 spot checks, but there is a reason to collect data in the very early and very late part of the cycle.

Say you get a preshot of 150. Well if you've collected the data on the average time it takes the insulin to start having any effect for your cat and what happens after +12, then you might see that shooting a 150 is actually very safe in your cat. Kitty will be in the 200's before the insulin starts working. You are then using the lag time (aka overlap and carryover) between shooting and effect time to your advantage.

So why the +10's and +11's? Well say you are on day 5 of a dose increase change and your storage shed is now not only full, it is overflowing... and your +10 or +11 was way higher than your preshot. Good way to stay out of trouble cause now you know you would have shot a still dropping number, not a good idea. so what is the plan then?.... keep testing, and not 2 hours later, every 20-30 minutes would be better, so you can catch the minute it turns and do not loose all your overlap. If you miss the rise and cat is way up there BG wise before you shoot, remember the number is just going to continue to rise in those hours before the insulin has a chance to kick in, and you have a roller coaster curve going rather than the flat curve that is ideal.
