I'm not loving this higher AMPS this morning but hopefully, we will see some lower blues and possibly greens later on today. I have had success with the Dasuquin! I was able to give it to Simon last night and this morning with not too much fighting. I am still going to start syringing it as soon as I get the syringes because I think it will be less traumatic for him. Simon is resting on his "testing blanket" and just chilling out. My Cleo is being very cute this morning. She is sitting next to me right now and keeps putting her paw on my shoulder so I will pay her some attention.

I am off to another funeral today. I work in geriatrics so I go to many funerals throughout the year. The funeral today is for the one of the sweetest guys I have ever met -- a veteran of WWII, always a gentleman, and kind to everyone. He will be missed!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Re: 9/17 Simon AMPS 188

Cleo knew you needed a little extra attention yourself this morning.

Simon...c'mon buddy, that AMPS is a little high for you....you look good in green, or a lighter shade of blue.

Re: 9/17 Simon AMPS 188

Hi Georgia, great with the success in Dasequin. I hope Simon comes down today. That's the hard part working in Geriatrics with losing someone you've gotten to know. We have some seniors living here, and it's so nice getting to know them and then one day someone has passed away, sometimes suddenly. Hugs.

Re: 9/17 Simon AMPS 188

YAY for the success with Dasequin. That is wonderful, and must feel good to have been able to give it to him. I hope it helps. :-D

And Simon? Down you go buddy! Remember those greens? They do look good on you!

Sorry for the funeral, but it is wonderful that you go. I think Cleo sensed your destination today - was sure she would give you her form of comfort.

I hope your day is a good one!

Re: 9/17 Simon AMPS 188 +6 238!

This 238 is too high for Simon. I am still wondering if there is a connection between the dasuquin and Simon's higher bg? When I gave him the first dose (successfully) a few days ago, he then went into the 200's the next day. Then I stopped for a few days because he refused to take the pill. His numbers went down. Last night and this morning I was successful in giving him the pill and now he is back up into the 200's. I know that the people that use dasuquin here on LL have said that there doesn't seem to be any problem with bg and their kitty but Simon is extra sensitive to everything. What do y'all think? I am going to continue to give him the dasuquin (if he will take it) and see what happens over the next day or so.

Re: 9/17 Simon AMPS 188 +6 238

Georgia-

just searched the main forum, and then on the web...
couldn't find anything helpful about dasuquin/bg's...
even on the other Feline Diabetes web sites.

dang it...

Re: 9/17 Simon PMPS 151

Better!

Celi, thanks for doing some research on the dasuquin. Maybe this is just a freak thing since no one else seems to have any problems. He is lower now but I just gave him another dasuquin so we'll see where we are tonight and tomorrow.

Re: 9/17 Simon PMPS 151 +4 65

Ok, this is the craziest day. Why do so many of our kitties go really low at night? Simon has been higher than usual today and now he is posting a 65! So much for the dasuquin theory although I tend to think it still is playing a part in Simon's strange numbers lately.

Re: 9/17 Simon PMPS 151 +4 65

Well that would be a great answer if you can find it.....why DO they go low at night???? Look how many are low tonight...Simon, Zener, Gabby, Willie. Yikes!!

Hope the dasuquin continues to get into Simon and the syringes help. Wonderful that Cleo must be feeling well.

Have a great night, Georgia.

The kitties are keeping you busy today... perhaps to keep you distracted?? Hugs to you today... while it is sad to lose someone so kind, it sounds as though he had a full and wonderful life and had an amazing impact on so many that he met. Raising a toast in celebration of him tonight.

Hopefully these kids don't have us up too late tonight! I had told myself I was going to start going to bed at 10... so much for that, given that it is 10:15 here and Willie shows no signs of heading upward!!
