Once again, Mandarin narrowly avoided a dosecrease when he dropped into the 70s during the 6th cycle on this dose. It is definitely taking him a long time to clear a bounce these days. Walter is still mid-bounce after his shark hunt on Thursday night.
Walter also has an injury on his tail. I don't know what happened - but when I woke up this morning, I noticed that there was some fresh blood on the window perch next to him. I can't really imagine that he was in a huge fight - he slept in the same room with me, after all, and I am pretty sure I would have woken up.... even though I have to admit that I am exhausted. I managed to clean it out and disinfect it, but I couldn't really get a good enough look to see if it is a puncture wound or maybe a little cyst that opened up. Whatever it is, I really hope that it'll heal on its own.
Little Iris is still feeling rather crummy. She seems to have more of an appetite, but she has a hard time swallowing and spits out the majority of the food she's trying to eat. She is struggling to breathe and so far, I can't really say that the vaporizer has made a huge difference. Keep sending good thoughts her way - I am really worried for the little girl.
And to make this week even more emotional, I am taking Ivy and Fern to meet a potential adopter today (just for a meet-and-greet - they will for sure be coming home with me again). After that, all I want to do is sleep and not deal with any more drama. I'm exhausted.
Christina you have so much on your plate What a mysterious tail booboo for Walter and hope it heals up and is just a little scratch or something. Maybe one of the kitts thought it was a toy...those kitten nails are like razors. How frustrating and worrisome with Iris. Why can't the vets figure out how to help that poor little girl I couldn't foster...would be a wreck every time they had to be adopted. A few I've rescued and found good homes for had me choked up. Hope you get some rest today.
I thought about that too... he likes to lay on the window perch with his tail dangling down. So it's entirely possible that one of the little alligators caught it... and they sure have sharp claws and sharp teeth.
Little Ivy was in rare form at the shelter. She was not happy about the carrier or about sitting in a cage or really anything that had to do with our morning. She meowed, cried and growled and basically talked the entire two hours that we were there. Luckily, the young couple that applied for her liked her attitude. She was still happy to play, and eat treats and curl up in their arms... she just had to comment on everything. Fern looked like the perfect little angel in comparison. They are interested in both the girls - and it would make me very happy if they get to stay together.
They have two golden retrievers. One of them has lived with the a cat before, but the younger one hasn't. So we are doing an introduction early next week and if they do well, my two baby girls will be getting adopted. I think they will enjoy living with dogs and they will for sure be happy that they still have each other.
So, there, I am trying very hard to talk myself into doing this and adopting them out. But, just in case, I also bought a Powerball ticket - if I win the lottery tonight, I will just keep all of them.
...and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how much Mandarin dropped while I was out. actually tested him twice because I for sure thought the test strip was bad (but I got a 60 and a 61).. Looks like he's skipping the bounce for a change and he is droppeing ON A SATURDAY!!! Very happy for that!
What is next step for Iris, Christina? Poor sweet little girl - it is heartbreaking just reading about it
I do hope both the kitties get adopted
sending
Hope things work out with the adoption and that they get adopted into the same forever home..( though secretly I am sending you winning lottery vines!)
GO Mandarin! Work that juice!!
The vet is still planning on sedating her to check for a polyp... but she wants her to grow a bit stronger and get the congestion under control. We have tentatively scheduled the procedure for Monday, but she just needs to improve a little.
Thank you! I am hoping for that too... and I never buy lottery tickets - I think this was only the second time in my life that I have ever bought one. I have lots of ideas though for how I could spend the money.
Good luck adopting out the girls. Add me as a potential foster fail. Fiancé wants to build a "cat sanctuary" where we basically will use our whole backyard as a fostering site. I told him no because I'll end up wanting to keep them all (plus it will be me that cleans up all that poo). I think that's his idea though, keeping them all.
Fingers and kitty toes crossed all goes well for little Iris.
Go Mandarin! I hope Walter comes back down soon. I hope Ivy and Fern can be adopted together. Sending prayers for Iris. I hope you get some sleep tonight.
Sending continued prayers and vines for an improvement in litttle Iris. Good news on the potential adopters for Ivy and Fern, I hope they stay together.
