Well this is just crazy... I mean, seriously - it's not even a real dose.
9/16
amps - 201 - 0.025u
+3 ---- 224
+8 ---- 62
pmps ---115 - 0.025
+2 ------ 144
+4 ------ 89 - hc
+6 ------ 39 - hc
+6.5 ---- 50
+8 ------- 50 - hc
9/17 -- amps = 320 - 0.025u

The vet said to discontinue the clavamox and bring him back in an about 5 days so we could make sure everything was clear - He had 7 days of abx so we're hoping that was enough. And as far as the higher numbers - yeeeeaahhh... I'm thinking bounce. :)
But you guys this is really an easy dose to measure - and I don't even need my magnifying glass so much -- it's just an empty syringe and a full needle - kwim?

What do you think about trying a little experiment? Sometimes cats on low doses will bounce because of the insulin, not in spite of it. Let’s see how well Doodle’s pancreas is working.

I suspect this bounce will clear quickly. If he’s at a reasonable number tonight, let’s try no insulin. Feed small meals and test 3-4 hours after a meal. We want to see if he bounces as much without insulin, and if he does, we want to see if he can bring himself down.

The hard part (for me too!) is that we need to give Doodle at least 48-72 hours to see how his numbers settle out before deciding to give insulin again. I’m not good AT ALL at sitting on my hands and I suspect you’re not either, but Jill will keep an eye on things to slow us down. ;-)

It’s not an OTJ trial, it’s an experiment to see what happens. Jill and I are in agreement that this a good next step. Questions?

MICHELLE AND DOODLE!

OOoooohhh, I read there might be an experiment up in here. Me'n Punk are gettin our lab coats ready!!

Ok Jillybean keep your foot on the break sweetie :D

I'm game. And curious myself. No questions I don't suppose.
~eeek!

ha! foot is firmly planted on the brake and we haven't even started yet! jojo counted on me. you can, too.

there's no doubt, you'll see some numbers that'll have you running for a syringe. ignore them. it's normal. we've even seen some kitties bounce off themselves without any insulin on board! how weird is that!

doodle does look like he's bouncing. this experiment will give us an idea of what he can do on his own.
strap on your seatbelt. this could be a wild ride!

are we talking about cyrano? i think i may still have a chart of his curve - sans insulin - somewhere.

+6 =259

Hey, I remember Cyrano ...
I guess that's one of the benefits of being an oldtimer - at least I sorta know what kind of crazy we could be looking forward to. :-|

I guess I'm as ready as i'll ever be... (((Doodle)))

woo-hoooooo, let's see what kind of a ride Doodle will be taking us on!!! I have absolutely no idea what to expect, this could be fun.

What are you going to do this weekend, since you won't have to be home to poke the cat? It's been a long time since you have had a day off, I hope you can go out and play.

i hope you still have a copy of the curve you charted. it was really sumthin' to see... sans insulin!

 Miriam -- he's still 254 @ +8

Libby, it has been a long time... maybe I'll just clean the bunny's patio though, because i don't think I'll be able to leave the house and not test him :)

ask, and ye shall receive

that lowest dip was to 48, at sometime before +60.

michelle, you may need to explain to doodle that this is by no means a challenge, and that he does not have to rise (pun intended!) to the non-challenge ;-)

thank you choy-foong!
cyrano's (no insulin) curve is amazing...

+12 = 383 --- blech!

I'm not even going to show that curve to Doodle! There's no way I'm going to risk bringing out his competitive nature!

Just so you know I'm not exactly liking this already :-|

well, personally I would wait until he's lower to start the experiment. And I did run that past Jill and she agreed, though she did tell me that she thought I was going to have a harder time sitting on my hands than you are during this little project.

yeah, he's 460. right now - I'm not liking that.
I'm worried about what constant highs could do to his already trashed kidneys...
I'm going to go give him a shot.
